We consider this to be the dinning low-light of our trip.
Having travelled extensively for decades we are well aware of what we consider unsavoury practices used by various establishments. This place engaged in the post-service Cover Charge practice.
Regardless of the financial aspect of the experience, we found the food and service to be outstandingly underwhelming to poor.
When we questioned the Cover Charge, we were told it was a required charge. To us the insinuation was it was an official tourist tax, which of course it is not. When we forced the point, the server became evasive and forceful. The amount was not large enough for us to engage the staff, and after reading reviews once we got back to our apartment, we are glad we did not push it any further. Others have reported nasty exchanges when challenging the charge. We were on vacation and didn’t need the petty drama.
To add insult to injury the sever held the payment processing machine and asked how much of a tip should he put in.
I don’t shrink from a fight, but I do pick my battles. This place was simply not worth my engagement. We believe we were manipulated, and we simply accepted it as one of those unfortunate events that can befall a tourist.
We will rise this with the local authorities.
We were not levied a Cover Charge at any of the dozens of other establishments we patronized during our trip.

Read moreIt was after I set down at the table I started to check on their reviews and the low score spooked me. But we’ve already placed order and too late to escape. Turned out the food is actually good. We ordered seafood rice and grilled sardines. Not bad at all. The sardines I wished they were more fresh and the waiter explained its only because sardine festivals is tomorrow and the market will shut down for 2 days so they had to freeze the fish to stock up. The waiter is super friendly. His name starts with the letter M.
Then I noticed past reviews mentioned the 13% service charge and you can deny it. But this is already included in the menu price, not extra. And we think it’s fair the waiter should be paid. It should not be a surprise. So we...
