I do not recommend this place!!! I don't like to write bad reviews, but this is an exception. We had made our reservation more than a month in advance and our flight arrived at 6 a.m., so we wanted to arrive early... We called the place and they told us that if we made a reservation the night before, we could check in when the reception opened at 8:00 a.m., which we accepted. At 7 a.m., we were outside looking for a place to wait for the remaining time, so we went to see if it was open, seeing lights and staff movement... My wife urgently needed to use the bathroom, so we rang the bell, and a lady answered immediately. She didn't speak any Portuguese and spoke very little English. She came out to talk to us in a very rude manner. When I explained the situation, asking only for the bathroom for my wife, that we had already rented the space, but even so, we only needed the bathroom and could continue waiting outside... she responded contemptuously, "It's not my problem," and closed the door. After opening time, she was the one at the reception desk, and when she attended to us, she was rude and disrespectful. If the goal is to make you feel welcome and at home in a guest house... They did the exact opposite! In addition to that, the room was very basic and had the hardest mattress I've ever slept on. It had no soundproofing, so you could hear every noise imaginable. The bathroom left a lot to be desired, with a broken shower and mold everywhere. The only good things were the hot water in the bathroom and a long-haired receptionist who was really nice to us.

Soweit so gut. Also hinauf in den ersten Stock Zimmer 107.

First of all, I booked the first tiem using expedia.de/com - After booking the hostel there I have gotten a mail from the hostel with differing information! - That´s bad, as I want to tely on the information based upon the booking. And I do not want to have corrections (against my interest) after I made te boking and expedia already charged my credit card ! I wrote the hostel, I do not ! accept any changes, as I already paid and this likes a scam to me! - I tried to calrify with Expedia.de/com, but yo do not ! get anyone there by phone, and they even do not anser mals. You can ue the "online form" but even do not ! get any feedback tere, not evben in 72 hours! - So never ever using Expedia.de/com again !!! - Arrived at the hostel, everything worked fine, as they must have remembered my 2 (angry) mails! - All in all, it´s simple, but good located (200 meters away from the subway), near old city. Near electrico 28 (the famous route of the more than 100 y.o. electric train). They are offering simple rooms with toilet/shower/bath at the same fllo (but outside the rooms). I paid single approx. € 40 a night. Sometimes they are selling for higher prices. I don´t know, last time I booked a quiet comfortable hotel over "ltour.de" for a few bugs more, but far away from this low level! - But, that counts, it is a safe place (even if some people in Lisboa are telling you the district itself (Anjos/Independte) is not a secure place, especially a night!) - ...

At one point they went into my room, took pictures of a small blood stain on my sheets and some leftover food, called the police and were waiting for me when I returned. They showed the police they had taken pictures inside my room without my permission, indicting themselves for a violation of privacy. The police informed me the hotel needed me to leave for "violating rules." I started recording on my phone and stuck it in my pocket. I happen to work for the US DoD and had some "sensitive" information I had left in my backpack as I had been assured no one would enter my room. I recorded a 1 hour argument the staff had with 6 police officers. The police officers asked me to leave and I refused. They knew they could not make me leave and didn't even know I was recording. I was able to receive a full refund of 1500 euros for my 30 night stay from booking.com after sending them the recording. I stayed for 2 more nights then flew...
