I'll start with the negatives to ensure readers see the full picture.
When we entered the building, we were greeted by an unpleasant smell in the hallway, partially masked by air freshener, which made the odor even worse. The stairway had wide gaps between the steps, making it a potential hazard for young children who could easily fall. I’m surprised such a design is even allowed. The apartment's interior is outdated and lacks any modern touch, giving it a careless appearance. For the high price, I would expect better quality and attention to detail.
Unfortunately, during our stay, someone broke into our apartment. While we were out, an intruder forced their way in and stole items worth €2,000. Although the landlord is not directly responsible for the burglary, it was very distressing that no one was available to assist us after 9 PM. With the broken door left half-open, we had to spend the night feeling insecure, which was very uncomfortable. We later learned that the balcony window on the first floor had likely been left open by the cleaning staff. We were staying on the second floor, and the open balcony window made it easy for someone to enter the hallway from the first-floor apartment, leaving only the relatively thin front door of our apartment, which could then be forced open.
The next morning at 10 AM, someone finally responded and arranged for repairs. After the door was fixed later that afternoon, we left the building together only to discover that the cleaning staff had once again left the balcony window open. I believe the frequent ventilation is due to the unpleasant odor in the hallway I mentioned earlier. In my opinion, the landlord holds partial responsibility for the break-in since these careless actions increased the risk of such incidents.
On a positive note, the location was convenient, and the view was beautiful. The area was well-situated for exploring nearby attractions, and the surrounding scenery was impressive. However, given the issues we encountered, I’m not sure the view and location were enough to make up for the overall experience.
I’m not asking for full compensation, but I believe a partial refund is justified—at least for the night we had to stay with a broken door, and for the security lapse caused by the cleaning staff. Unfortunately, since the incident, no one has responded to my messages, and it seems they simply don’t care. I truly hope no other guest has to go through a similar experience here.

It then didn't take long to find the Go2oporto page on booking.com. After a while you get used to reading reviews, and this one almost seemed to good to be true.||||If anything the reviews understate how good this is as a place to stay. The view over the river, the bustling quayside, the Ponte Luis 1, and the Vila de Gaia opposite is so fascinating it was easy to just spend hour after hour on the balcony, or just inside the apartment with the double doors open watching. There is always something of interest.||||The apartment is modern, clean and well appointed. I can't think of anything we lacked for our four night stay - except maybe an umbrella for the day it rained.||||Communications with the owners are excellent, by e-mail almost immediately on booking and by text enroute. You are met, after the shortest of delays, by a host who shows you round the apartment and, in the case of Pedro who met us, briefs you thoroughly on his favourite parts of the city. Trust his judgement, he is first rate.||||Accept that the bathroom tap wobbles, it is a very long and thin apartment and be prepared to do battle with the unruly coffee machine (The secret is it takes "Delta" pods, not Nespresso, and you get these from the little supermarket further up the street, not the nearby SPAR.)||||We didn't cook, but there's a lot of kit there if you wish to. We didn't need it, but we noticed it now has a small portable air conditioning unit.||||The stairs are steep - we felt pity for those on the third floor - but really, with the food in Porto the exercise will do you good.||||I could continue, but I think you may have gained the impression, if you are a couple with no mobility issues I can't believe there can be a better place to...
