Good: Centrally located Spacious
Bad: Communication / Service Not fully equiped
This place was a horrible experience from beginning to end. Check-in was alright even though the place is unguarded with no one in the reception. Instructions for finding keys and checking in was easy, but from here it went downhill. The front door key was broken upon arrival. The listing says that the appartment has view of the river, so we were very dissapointed to see that there was not. Weird things were missing from the "appartment", there was a boiler and tea bags but no cups or glasses to drink from. The bedside table lamp did not work. No bathroom condiments at all. Also, the reception front door broke during the night and kept beeping, forcing us to get up 3-4 times during the night to close it on behalf of other guests. Worst of all was the communication with GuestReady. The morning after we called them and were greeted by some very unenthusiastic staff with no understanding of our dissapointment regarding the missing view. Nothing was done to help with the appartment's missing items. They did fix the reception front...
Read moreGood location and that’s about it. There is a laundromat nearby and McDonald’s in front hotel. Very close to historical downtown and bridge to Gaia. The area is not that quiet because there are bars and restaurants downstairs! The windows aren’t soundproofing and thin. There’s no AC so you need to open windows to air it out. It gets warm. We came in late September so the nights were cold and the daytime temperatures were 20c. It was comfy but need to air out for fresh air. There’s no elevators so it’s gonna be leg day everyday!!! Our room and bathroom were big: I liked that! But the bathing area had mold in the tiles …. And the toilet wouldn’t stop running ALL DAY and NIGHT!!!!! Had to wear earplugs to sleep. Check in was 3pm but it wasn’t ready until 3:30-4pm... we waited in lobby while the cleaning lady was preparing our room… Seems very run down and the people don’t seem to care? Keep in mind of these factors : no AC, no...
Read moreOur first impression was great, entering into a huge room and a great view onto the Douro. Upon second look the image was a bit tarnished.
Paint was coming of the walls and you could see water damage stains. The windows are very old so the street noise comes through without any filter. So a good night's rest is nearly impossible. The bathroom is very small but I guess is sufficient. There is no wardrobe to speak of but again, for a weekend get away it does the trick.
The location tops it though. Walking distance within the historic center and close to the promenade. Check in and check out were easy, even though I would have appreciated a bit of flexibility or options for an earlier check in or luggage storeage (none).
For the price it is an alright accomodation but I don't think I could spend more than two nights there...
