I have never stayed at such an unhygienic hotel. We came into our room after our first day out and noticed a stain under the comforter at the end of the bed. Upon further investigation it was a dried bloodstain the size of two golf balls in length. We contacted the owner who said he would come with a new sheet. He didn’t bring the correct one and wouldn’t be corrected until the next day. The owner tried to convince us it was a coffee stain but this is obviously blood.
He informed us the insert would be changed the next day. When we came back to the hotel the second day after being out, we decided to check the bed again. The duvet insert was changed but the other sheets were still the same. We knew this as we had taken many photos of our bed the night before and there were some stains on the mattress cover that were identical to the one we had the second day. Except, this time, on the mattress cover there were two new dried bloodstains that were 100% not on the mattress cover the night prior. These stains are not bedbug stains but definitely from someone bleeding onto them. We are confident it is not from us during our stay as it was at the foot of the bed where no body part tends to touch except for maybe a foot.
This is a warning to all other travellers staying here - thoroughly check your linens on your bed. The showers do not drain. There is a decent amount of mold in the bathroom. The photos shown on Expedia and their website are definitely altered to make them seem newer and more up to date. There is no receptionist 24 hours as advertised, there is only someone...
Read moreAfter booking this guest house we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect, but as it turned out the guest house more than matched the details provide by Hotels.com, so there were no nasty surprises. ||We were contacted by the guest house prior to checking in to confirm our arrival time so that someone would be at the reception desk when we arrived. (note - the reception desk is not always manned) ||Checking in was easy, and we had a room on the top floor so we took advantage of the small lift in the centre of the building. Our room was small overlooking the front but had all the amenities, television, Kettle, hair dryer, small bathroom with good shower, air conditioning and big comfortable bed. The room was very clean and the room was cleaned every day of our stay.||The breakfast in the morning is served in the small breakfast room behind reception and is continental and very good. The lady who served us was very friendly and provided usfull information on local shops, where to go etc. The hotel is very convenient for the Riberira where you will find lots of restaurants. Our room overlooked the front so there was an interesting view of the street leading down to the river. We are not sure what the cheaper rooms at the back of the guest house overlooked, so something to consider if you really want a good view. If we ever go to Porto again we would definately consider...
Read moreI am very disappointed by the way I have been treated, ignored and had to pay for a room which I have been trying to cancel 20days before our stay. Our plans had changed 3 weeks ago so I decided to call the hotel to cancel it. I was completely amazed by the receptionist that didn’t understand what I was trying to say. She only spoke Portuguese. I am fluently in English, French, Spanish and Dutch…and still the lady just wouldn’t understand a word I was saying…I mean it’s a reception of a hotel… So I decided to cancel it through email..it took me 2 emails to receive a reply that this could only be cancelled through booking…still we were over 2 weeks before the date we were supposed to stay. After cancelling it twice through booking I got a rude email saying that no matter what I was going to be charged 85€ because I needed to cancel it with 14 days before coming over. I have been trying to cancel this stay for over 20 days, have not been understood and from the first moment our plans have changed I just got the feeling no matter what I was going to do..they were going to charge me anyway. This is beyond unrespectfull, not customer friendly at al land just a rip off! I have saved all print screens and evidence and have mailed it to the manager and they still charge me! How can you treat people this way knowing that you live from tourism…I am so disappointed and feel very bad about the whole situation. I truly hope that no one will have to go through the stress, sadness and disappointment we have been going through for the last 3 weeks…in life plans sometimes change…it’s just not fair and want to inform you all about this whole situation. Yo estaba completamente sorprendida por la recepcionista que no entendía lo que yo estaba tratando de decir. Ella sólo hablaba portugués. Yo hablo perfectamente inglés, francés, español y holandés...y aún así la señora no entendía una palabra de lo que estaba diciendo...me refiero...es una recepción de un hotel!!. Así que he decidido de cancelar a través de correo electrónico..tuve que mandarles 2 emails para recibir una respuesta de que esto sólo podría ser cancelado a través de la pagina de booking. Todavía estábamos a más de 2 semanas antes de la fecha en que se supone que ibamos a llegar. Después de la cancelación de dos veces a través de booking, recibi un correo electrónico de mala educación, diciendo que no importa lo que yo iba hacer tenía que pagar 85€, porque necesitaba cancelar con 14 días antes de venir. He estado tratando de cancelar esta estancia por más de 20 días, no me han querido entender ni ayudar desde el primer momento. Nuestros planes han cambiado y simplemente me dio la sensación de que no importa lo que yo iba a hacer..que iban a cobrarme de todos modos. Esto es una falta de respeto hacía los clientes. Simplemente es una estafa! He guardado todas las fotos de los correos, llamadas y contestaciones como prueba y aun asi no me dan la razón y me han cobrado por algo que no es justo ¿Cómo se puede tratar a la gente de esta manera sabiendo que viven del turismo...estoy muy decepcionado y me siento muy mal por la situación. Espero de verdad que nadie va a tener que pasar por el estrés, la tristeza y la decepción que hemos estado yendo a través de las últimas 3 semanas...en la vida a veces los planes cambian...no es justo y quiero informar a todo el mundo de ésta situación.
