Picota-Café São Nicolau — Restaurant in Porto

Think the low reviews of this restaurant are unfair. When you see the menu and prices the value for money is incredible really… We walked in off the street by chance and found the establishment welcoming and friendly. We ordered veal with champagne sauce and salmon main courses and a beer each, one normal and one alcohol free. After being ignored at another eaterie a few metres left of this establishment, we took a chance upon this place which turned out to be delightful place for lunch. It's your friendly, down-to-earth cafe, that serves a taster of Portuguese food. They accommodate kids and are super friendly. We ate our selection of octopus with green sauce, Portuguese Snails in a homely broth with bread, and calamari. Ok, this is not the most elegant place to eat but the food is alright. We had breakfast twice there and the food is decent and portions are of a good size. You can also have lunch in the afternoon and dinner in the evening. The service is basic but not bad. Not expensive for what you get. Toilets could do with some tlc.
