Legends' House Sweet Porto||As I always do, in this review, I will share both the positives and negatives of our stay at Legends House-Sweet Porto—||The location of this little boutique apartment hotel was perfect. It was right in the center of everything, and there was a cafe, restaurant, or coffee shop every way you turned. Although it was on a busy walking street, we had a room facing the center courtyard area, so we did not have to deal with street noise. |The hotel also has a kitchen and a nice sitting area. It’s great for families with children—large rooms with comfy beds, great AC, and tons of storage. |We added breakfast, which consisted of a basket brought to our room each morning. It had fresh juice, coffee, protein (eggs, meat, and cheeses), bread, butter, and jam. It was my favorite thing in the mornings. |The staff was friendly, and the area felt safe. ||However, there is always room for improvement, so I’ll add my thoughts here on what could make a big difference in one's stay. Offer napkins to go with the breakfast! We had to go to a local grocery store to buy our own. Coffee pods are only offered on the first day of your stay, and although there is a nice coffee maker, if you want further pods, you must purchase them at 50 cents each. That did not sit well with me. Also, there should have been a microwave. There were a couple of evenings when we would have loved to pop something in the microwave to heat up, but there wasn’t one! |There was a makeup mirror in the bathroom, which I greatly appreciated. However, the lighting is very dim. Also, the shower in our room was tiny. My 6’3” husband was unhappy, and with the low water pressure and inconsistent water temperature, it wasn’t a great experience.|I want to draw attention to another negative: the rooms are not very soundproof. Crying babies, scraping chairs, etc., made it quite noisy, especially early in the morning or late at night. |This hotel is much better suited to families rather...
Read moreMy husband and I were planning on staying here for 3 nights and 4 days. We were supposed to check out of our Lisbon hotel Saturday morning and take the train to Porto. Saturday morning we woke up extremely sick with food poisoning- we could not move from all the pain and not being able to eat anything all day long. We both had slight fevers, achy bodies, and my husband even had cold sweats almost all day long. We had to cancel our train tickets and unexpectedly had to stay in our Lisbon hotel one more night. Due to being bed ridden all of Saturday, my husband's chronic low back pain kicked in and he couldn't even walk without being in excruciating pain.
On Saturday night, we made the difficult decision of deciding to leave Portugal since we were both so sick and my husband was in so much pain he could barely walk. By Sunday morning, my husband was still sick from the food poisoning and was very sick. I contacted the staff at this hotel to let them know that unfortunately we would not be able to stay due to being so sick that we had to fly out home (again, my husband could barely walk and was still sick with food poisoning). I asked if would be possible to get a refund, even a partial one, since we had to cancel due to being too physically ill to show up. They refused to refund me, even just a partial refund. I booked them through Booking.com and the website stated the hotel may be able to waive the cancellation fee depending on the circumstance. To me, not being able to show up to a reservation due to being too physically sick to make it seems like a reasonable circumstance for at least a partial refund. The management refused and we lost over $700 just for being too sick to travel.
I would never book this place again when I'm back in Porto. I hope this can help some people as FYI in case you book them and unexpectedly get sick... just prepare to lose...
Read moreWe had a family trip to Porto for a long weekend and stayed in the 3 bedroom duplex apartment. Leading up to our stay the hotels communication was great checking our estimated arrival time, sending a whatsapp so we had them available for when we were staying in the event that nobody was at the desk. We requested an early check-in that luckily they were able to accommodate. ||The hotel is in a prime location and accessible for the metro, supermarket and all the sights to see in Porto. The apartment was very clean with a daily maid service if you wanted it and offered a very comfortable stay with all you need for a great stay. The kitchen was fully equipped if you prefer to cook whilst staying and the staff were so helpful with any requests or questions we had. ||With the location of the apartments being very central, it can on occasion be a little noisy at night when the restaurants are clearing away and closing but it was not enough for us not to want to stay here again. ||We had the breakfast included within booking that was left outside the door in a cute picnic basket. Coffee, fruit, croissants, rolls, cheese and ham. Was enough to have something small first thing before venturing out. The garden located at the rear of the property offers some outside space to read and have a drink and is available to the guests at anytime. ||We highly recommend Legends House if you are visiting Porto. Comfortable, assessable, friendly and helpful staff and...
