Supposedly the birthplace of the famous Oporto snack. I've eaten several Francesinhas in my life but never have I tried a sauce like this. It is watery, but a slight taste of milk or cream, and probably only meat fat as the starting point (not tomato and/or carrots, like it is common all over the city). I would say it is a good sauce, but really far away from the contemporary ones. The meats are good, the steak could be a lot better, or at least more rare, and the bread is a bit too dry. Overall a great experience (they also have a good house unfiltered beer, that is a nice combination, despite the classic being a superbock). Very good desserts, clearly made in house. It's strange that you can't see the kitchen, but probably because of the small footprint of the building it is on another level. We really enjoyed our experience, this is a place, that by it's location and decorations could clearly be a tourist trap or a rip-off, but they've chosen to fulfill the purpose of keeping the traditional way alive and they even have the same...

We went here because it was the only place open on a Sunday evening in the area. Looked welcoming but took an hour to get Francesinha and when it came it just had cheap ham and sausages, tasteless cheese and no egg on top. Decent places use steak. They explained it was the house special way of doing it.
Sardines were not gutted and were foul because the flesh was tainted. Seafood soup excellent.
Waiter apologised for delay after half an hour but food was still slow. People who came in after us left before us. When we left we saw that the francesinha was made in a panini toaster by the door and the sauce was already done in a saucepan so it should have taken 5 minutes.
We think the delay is a scam to make tourists buy more beer.
Oh, they added stuff on to the bill we didn't order too and then pretended not to understand any language...
