Hotel Carpați — Hotel in Bucharest

Miserable...On my arriving day, carrying a large heavy suitcase, nobody asked me for help to carry it on the stairs to the elavator...On the 2nd day I was asked to pay in advance for all my 4 days stay...The room had dirty carpet with a burned stamp from a clothes iron on it,and was NEVER cleaned, neither the bed was made,neither the bed sheets changed....Under the dirty carpet, the wooden floor was old and not solid..walking on it made a teriible noice, I was afraid I would wake up the neighboors....The single bed rooms, as the one I had, have no toilet and Shower room, so I had to use the shared ones on my floor...NEVER enough toilet paper, had to ask every day to bring some and the toilet wasn;t daily cleanad because I was checking the same dirt spots that were NEVER removed all these days that were used from all the guests with single bed rooms...The shower room had no place to put your clothes on, no hangers, no chair, nothing....so, I had to put them on the floor !!! but because there was no shower curtain, the floor was getting totally wet and I had to find a plastic bag to put them in and keep them clean and dry....No soap in the shower room, only a thin as a paper sheet soap in the room...Nobody speaks English,nobody smiles at you or asks if you need something, if everything is o.k.... only a few words from the elderly owner who was making a decent effort to contact...The photos don;t represent the reality...the hotel is dark, no reall light entering in the old fashioned lobby and small breakfast area..Not recomended for holidays stay...The only positive is the good location near the Old city and the...

My flight back to Hong Kong is late at midnight and instead of hanging around on the dark and cold street, I booked a double room with private bathroom for a night here although I checked out in evening already. ||The reception kindly and generously allowed me early check-in at noon and upgraded me to a larger room with dining room and 2 toilets (BEFORE I told them actually I would leave in the evening and wouldn't stay overnight)😍||Well, yes, it's true that the building is very aged and tired, so the interior and furniture, everything. Yet I don't find it dirty or with any unpleasant smell. I find everything functional, and the shower is hot and strong. ||My room is on 1st floor and the lift doesn't go to this floor. No problem for me although I had heavy luggage. The staff was so kind in offering help for me although I said no with thanks. The lift is an antique and a pity that I forgot to have a try. ||The location is very central, on a side road (the area a bit dark quiet and creepy though) round the corner of Novotel City Centre Hotel. I called uber for going to airport and the uber just came right at the entrance of the hotel. ||Overall, I am satisfied with this hotel. But of course, it's better to choose the room type with private bathroom/ toilet which price is too...

I have stayed in hostels/hotels/guest houses, etc. all over the world and this one falls about in the middle. Not spectacular, but functional, and you can’t beat the price. My single room was a decent size and had a sink in it with the shower across the hall and bathroom about 20m farther. I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and efficient, but not overly engaging. This is within walking distance of most of the sights, and public transportation is not too far away.
