The hotel is very well located and presents well, cleanliness of the room is good (for the first night at least).

The service is quite expeditious but correct in itself.

However, during our stay on the 6th floor, it was impossible to take a shower, use the sink or the toilet in the evening or during the night in question, the water no longer flowed! Quite disturbing, we contacted the reception for the first time, a vague answer because it's a new problem and they offered me to call it back after 30 minutes... I'm still waiting for the collaborator's response to this date. 2nd night, problem unresolved, no solution but to stay without water. On the 3rd night we call back the reception and thankfully we have a room at 5 a.m. to be able to take a hot shower and use the bath before leaving, because yes the rest of the hotel was not impacted, only the 6th floor.

Also surprised, after a night spent, back to the hotel for our 2nd night, the room had not been cleaned! Stupor and misunderstanding, we asked at the reception and there was an oversight... when told, the room service hurried to finish our room during our brief passage before leaving the establishment. They kindly let us change ourself, however they did not come to finish to clean and redo he rooms, although they’d say they’ll come back, unempty garbage cans and so on. To me this is unacceptable as is it a 4 star hotel with high prices and expectations.

Now let's move onto the breakfast, which was disappointing to me, poor quality but quantity was there, the sausage were out of some sort of meat but very industrial taste, the omelette was cold and on top of that the orange juice is out of a plastic bottle…

The coffee machine did not manage to serve a cappuccino because there was no more milk in it, the lighting in the area did not work and gave a dark atmosphere. Also on a closed terrace people were smoking (I don’t know if it is allowed in Romania).

The cherry on top of the cake is that the 2 bottle of water we used from the minibar to brush our teeth were charged when we check out, no compensation whatsoever was offered to us for the water incident. I believe this hotel should put some priority in the customer satisfaction instead of reposing on a reputation earn from an old era. I’m sorry but you won’t see me again...

Stayed for Halloween - The heat in our room was completely unbearable! We had the window fully open and the temperature got up to 27 degrees celcius. I'm pregnant and couldn't cope with the heat. The following morning at 9:30am I went to reception and asked them to look at the air con and cool the room down. We got back to the hotel and left the window open all day having been out. It was still 25 degrees. I went back to reception and the guy said they don't have air con at this hotel in October, only a heat function because most people that stay here are old and want heat. I explained that I am pregnant and can't cope with the heat. He showed me another room but that's 25 degrees as well. He basically called me a liar and said there's no way with the window open our room got to 27 degrees last night when outside is 4 degrees. That's a joke - it never got lower than 11/12 degrees outside and the hotel is centrally heated so that keeps it warm all the time. I told him politely that I wasn't a liar. We asked if they even had a plug in fan which they didn't!! It was unbearable, especially when pregnant - I overheated and barely slept at all, constantly having to drink water. The hotel is unhelpful and the staff quite rude. He said 'I just can't help'. The hotel is advertised as having Air Con - it doesn't! I am not happy with our booking at all. Paying for a service I am not getting is not ok. Advertised as having Air con - no it doesn't. I would not recommend this hotel. The drawers in between beds were cracked (mirror design) room 410. Lamp was dim, not enought light available. Clocks didn't work. Housekeeping not effective each day (not cleaned, bed spread thrown on). Not a 4 star hotel in the slightest - 3 star at absolute best. Looking through the reviews I noticed more 1* reviews related to the heat. This is an issue they clearly haven't rectified over the years.

Edit 25/11 - They've told booking.com that we were upgraded because of the inconvenience 🤣 I can assure you that we weren't - stayed in the same awful room from start to finish. Their customer service was sub par and now to add insult to injury, they're quite happy to be untruthful about what they did?? No compensation offered - happy to take your hard earned cash for an absolute shambles of a service....

As someone who has been to 84 countries and is in the top 2% of travel reviewers on Trip Advisor, I am suprised that this hotel isn't doing better. It's likely the worst hotel experience I've ever had.

My room is HOT. Their site says they have air conditioning. I called reception and they told me I have to open the windows. This is 100% UNACCEPTABLE. For safety reasons and due to allergies, I do not want my windows open. Also, to have the windows open, the curtains must be open and people can see right into the room! Besides that, I want my room cooler. I can NOT sleep in a room that is warm. I chose this hotel for the reasons listed and I expect there to be air conditioning in my room. False advertising.

There was not enough room at breakfast for me and my two friends to even sit together and there was not enough staff and breakfast was not good.

We asked at the front desk the first morning about massage and the man told us he didn't know about it. I have called 600 from my phone in the room for the spa/massages and NO ONE answers! Unacceptable! Later on I was offered a free massage, but the number still isn't working. And it was too late at that point.

I am in a suite and my room is not relaxing as it is right over the LOUD and crazy music from the restaurant. I literally have to turn on white noise machine at the highest volume to sleep due to the noise. Club music all day.

Their site says suites should have a hot tob. It does not.

At check in, no one offered to help with my bags. Ever.

At check in, George (I think that was his name) was NO HELP and would not confirm what time the restaurant closed or what time room service ended. He could not be bothered.

It says online my room is supposed to have key card access. It does not. I requires an actual key. Again, false advertising.

I called the front desk and they said they can't turn on my air conditioning. Then he said he would send someone. It's been days and no one has ever come. It's been miserable.

Also, as some other reviews pointed out, the rooms are not clean after the first day.

I sent three emails to the hotel during my stay and they never answered me. Do...

Very nice Hotel, good ideea, nice views on the Boulevard, but the view from the back of the hotel, with the pool... The view towards the pool is pathetic for a 4 star hotel, a historic hotel where the pool was the strong point ... Now the view from the pool is simply desolate, like the communism just fall yesterday... An entrepreneur would know to monetize such opportunity... Or maybe a good manager... The windows have the worst thermopane(as quality), sometimes with the yellow-colored plastic, no sound insulation, because it costs, or because the operational manager confuses the concept of the Hotel with Bigotti shops (😉)... The windows are not secure, if someone wants to throw something in the Boulevard, no problem (or if someone drunk wants to jump😉). Overall, indeed, it is true, it's a commendable initiative! Good luck! Downgraded to 2 stars because the "owner" (in fact somebody else in his name, even something automatic, respond only to the 5 stars reviews, made by passing passers or by the bored drivers who are in the traffic jam and they are taking pictures from the car... Pathetic and tipical romanians... P. S. Whach out THERE IS NO OUTDOOR POOL! It's only A DREAM and a construction yard from the '90. They only brag about it, even put it in the Amenities (even if it's illegal, but hey... who's go apply the law?)

Great location! You can walk literally anywhere in the city center of Bucharest! Theaters, parks, best restaurants, the Old Town, the government building, universities and many more, most of them on one street - the famous Calea Victoriei! The hotel was renovated a few years ago. Everything looked very nice and everywhere you look you can see a piece of art. But the years passed and it needs some maintenance. My room was on the first floor and faced the main Boulevard and I could barely sleep from the noise that the cars made. The windows need better soundproofing or to be changed with modern ones that provide better soundproofing especially on lower floors! The cleanliness was poor, the towels the same … and many more. I think the Hotel Manger or the GM should visit the rooms from time to time to see the reality. It is sad for such a great location to be in this state of ignorance! In four stars hotels the details make the difference and here the details were terrible. The 3 stars review is for location and for the design of the hotel otherwise it would have been less than that. I also left a review in the room, but unfortunately nobody said anything. Breakfast and restaurant service are very good!

Perfect Stay in the Heart of Bucharest I recently spent a few nights at Hotel Lido by Phoenicia, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and professional, making check-in quick and easy. My room was spotless and beautifully decorated with a blend of classic Art Deco charm and modern comfort. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was well equipped with everything I needed. The location is unbeatable—right in the city center, just a short walk to the Old Town, the Romanian Athenaeum, and countless restaurants and cafés. Despite being so central, my room was quiet and peaceful. I also loved the hotel’s atmosphere: elegant, stylish, and full of history. Breakfast each morning offered a good variety of fresh options, and the bar in the lobby was perfect for a relaxed evening drink. Overall, Hotel Lido combines first-class service, excellent amenities, and a prime location. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Bucharest, whether for business or leisure.
