Cafe Chocolat Ateneu — Restaurant in Bucharest

During the pandemic I had to order from chocolat. They have two types of order, both overcharged: in two hours and scheduled.

After placing the order someone called to tell me that the delivery will not be in two hours, despite having to pay for this option, but in 3 hours. I said okay. After 3.5 hours I called and they told me that the delivery would arrive in max 1 hour. After 1.5 hours I had to call back and they told me that it will take another hour and a half to deliver.

Its been 7.5 hours since I order from chocolat with 2 hours delivery paid, and my order did not arrive.

If they wouldn't demand payment it advance, I would have cancelled by now.

I expect them to at least give me back the money for the delivery, but I doubt they would. First and last time I order from them. A shame that in these days where restaurants are struggling to stay open and deliver, Chocolat is not even making an effort.

UPDATE:

A nice lady from Chocolat called and was very nice and apologised. They knew the delivery was coming late and put in a box of macaroons. Because the order arrived so late, they refunded me the payment. Updating the ratint from 1 to 3.

The traditional Christmas Cake (Cozonac) was 4/5 for my taste. I expected the filling...

I was in a group of four but arrived late and my friends had already been served their drinks and cakes. I waited and waited for at least ten minutes but no waiter came to take my order.

So I walked in and, after a few minutes more, the girl at the counter asked me what I wanted. I pointed out an eclair and she asked if I wanted it to go. I said that no, I was seated at a table but no one came to take my order. She said someone will come eventually. I said that no, I was fine to just take the eclair by myself to the table. I wasn't going to wait anymore.

Unfortunately for me, the type of eclair I had laid my eyes on was not available. So I picked out some macarons but alas, I was thwarted again. They had just received a new shipment (apparently they don't make them at this location) and they variety I picked was again not available right there.

So I went back to the table and after ten more minutes I got some macarons. I ate and promptly left.

The macarons were great. As was the coffee and various other things my friends had ordered. The location is also good. However, the service is typically romanian: it's sorely lacking. I was expecting more since this was supposed to be a premiere...

Very rude staff, i called for a reservation today and they asked if i’m dining in or just for pastries and coffee since if you are dining you can have the table for an hour and a half and if you are having deserts and coffee you can have the table for an hour only which is inconveniend, clients should stay as long as they want, moreover, i am a regular costumer and i’ve never came at their restaurant only for coffee, i’ve dined in and stayed less than an hour, i’ve never kept the table ocuppied without consuming their products. Last time i came 2 weeks ago to have lunch with my husband, it was the same. They said we can have the table for 40 minutes since they have a reservation pending. I had the argentinian beef burger and got food poisoning from it (and i’m also pregnant). Thought i’d give it another chance today, but it’s not worth it. Definetely do not recommend and i’m not...
