The Great Gatsby — Hotel in Bucharest

⭐ 1/5 Unreliable and Unhelpful – Avoid This Property CANCELLED OUR BOOKING 48 HOURS BEFORE

I had booked HOLT - The Great Gatsby, Bucharest for my stag do, with a planned arrival on 7th March. On 5th March—just two days before our trip—they abruptly cancelled our reservation, citing a burst water pipe. While that was their explanation, there was no offer of assistance, no alternative accommodation (despite their company owning multiple properties in Bucharest), and no real attempt to help us.

Instead, we were left scrambling to find a last-minute booking to avoid our entire trip being ruined. There was no apology, no remorse, and absolutely no customer service—just a cancellation and a “not our problem” attitude.

Even if the issue was genuine, their complete lack of responsibility and unwillingness to support guests speaks volumes. If you're looking for reliability and decent customer service, I’d strongly advise booking elsewhere.

“The NOT so Great Gatsby”

We stayed here for a few days. After day 1 we received a call from the owner that he heard us through the cameras. We made “too much noise”. It was quite scary. Looked like big brother. We searched the entire house for cameras. He gave us the option to either leave the apartment immediately or pay a fine for noise pollution. There are all kinds of rules in this apartment. Read carefully when you book for this apartment because you have to pay extra money for everything and the fines are high. He didn't even give us a warning and immediately wanted to throw us out of the house. We apologized on the phone but he still wanted to throw us out or make us pay. We ended up paying a fine to stay. This owner was very angry and could not do business normally.

The only positive thing is the location and the apartment itself.. For that I’ll still give 1 star.

If you want a classy apartment with wonderful design, very clean and with great staff, you should pick this one. When I needed information, the staff replied almost immediately. The apartment is located in the heart of the city, near the Old Town. Restaurants, pubs, clubs, bus stops, subway lines, you have everything here. It was my best stay as I travelled...
