Hotel Platinia — Hotel in Cluj Metropolitan Area

We had one of the most amazing experiences staying at Platinia in Cluj Napoca. Beginning at arrival and throughout the whole time spent there we were impressed by the professional service offered by the staff, the wonderful design of the building and the quality of all materials used in building and decorating this beautiful hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The decor and the comfort made us feel like we didn’t want to leave. The first morning we were experiencing jet leg and we couldn’t go to breakfast. They brought us breakfast in the room and it was really amazing with a beautiful presentation and great taste. The second day we went and enjoyed the quality and the variety of the breakfast buffet. The staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. There is a mall at the ground level with very good quality merchandise, restaurants, pharmacy, groceries and other services. We extended our stay and decided to come back to Platinia for one more night before we finished our trip to Romania. Starting with the plus:|The location is ok, close to the city center.|The staff was nice and helpful.|The apartment is spacious, with all the necessary facilities.|A plus for the ironing board and espresso machine with Nespresso pods. Also a kettle.||Minus:|The toilet seat is very close to the lateral wall and you have to touch the wall at all times.|Some idiot thought that dressing the walls in fake wood panels made of plastic will be great. Well, it's not.|The lighting is horrible, the cheapest downlights imaginable (2.2 euro in the DIY stores), that creates a huge discomfort.|The hot water in the shower smells really bad.|There is only one very small bottle of water (that you have to pay for) and it's impossible to make a tea out of it. Superb boutique hotel. I have stayed at Platinia on three separate occasions this year. The hotel is new, the rooms are upscale in feel and amenities, and the breakfast, catered in a separately-managed restaurant in the same building, is to die for. There is a shopping mall next door, which is super convenient, as it includes a high-end grocery store with late hours. There are several restaurants within the same block, ranging from a beer garden to Japanese fare. Finally, the underground parking is helpful, considering how chaotic the parking situation is otherwise in Cluj. Overall, this is a very pleasant, high-end boutique hotel, on par with any of its US or Western EU peers. If I have to go back to Cluj anytime soon, I will not even look anywhere else.
