It was terrible! ATTENTION: WE STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSTEL TO UKRAINIANS AND ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS UKRAINE IN ITS CONFRONTATION WITH RUSSIA.
My boyfriend and I were flattered by the fact that the hostel is conveniently located and cheap. But later we regretted our choice. The most unpleasant impression was from the receptionist Zak, who is usually praised in many reviews. However, he has two layers and two faces.
Indeed, on the first day he was fantastically polite and attentive to us. And we were ready to forgive all the hostel's shortcomings for this: the dirty floor in the room, the stale bed linen, the old worn towels (with embedded dirt), the unpleasant smell in the shower room, and the atmosphere at the reception, reminiscent of a warehouse of old things or a flea market (it's funny that people with no taste, fans of so-called “modern art” consider it “style”, “rocker vibe”).
But here came the second day and accidentally in a conversation we mentioned that we do not support the war in Ukraine and the policy of Putin, as well as his friend Vuchich. And our charming friend changed in an instant. He let us know that we were not welcome here. He was incredibly rude when we asked him any questions. In addition, he was always watching TV or listening to music, breaking the silence even at night.
We had already read the reviews on Booking. Under each negative review there is a response that characterizes the author as an abuser with bouts of victim-blaming: he is sure to accuse the affected client of some crime like theft or overstaying in the country. Obviously, in response to our feedback, the author will not be friendly and will not admit his mistakes.
But our task is to WARN (!!!) other guests that not all that glitters is gold. And that any charming person can have a second face - the face of a toxic and psychologically unbalanced person.
Conclusion: this place is suitable for those who prefer conformism to free expression, tastelessness to style, punk atmosphere to purity, false subservience to sincerity. And also those who, because of the need for cheapness, are ready to agree to anything, even to the risk of staying on the street in the middle of the night (there are such cases in some guest reviews). Adequate, mentally healthy people have nothing to do here! Please, respect yourself...
Read moreAs a couple, we did a reservation of 3 nights using Booking and we paid 90€ in cash to Zack upon arrival. Towels for both of us were provided. There is a mini fridge in the main hall. The internet works really well. There is a key to lock the room and keep our privacy and safety. There are board games on the main hall if you want to have a chill time with the other guests or the owner. Our room was pleasant and well decorated with a double bed and A/C. The accommodation is well located, 5 minutes walking to the Belgrade main bus station and 15 minutes from the city center. There is a grocery store right under the accommodation. The building of the entrance seems scary at night. Zack will help you in anything you need. He gave us a map of the city Belgrade and if you ask him, he can explain everything in detail about where to go and how to go there. We felt disappointed to discover that it was an hostel and there is no kitchen to cook. We asked the owner Zack about the kitchen and he said it was removed a while ago. We spent more money than expected eating out over three days. The bathroom smelled like pee in the first two days. We felt not rested as the accommodation is too noisy. During the day, there is always loud music on the TV. Also, the people talking in the main hall can be heard all from our room and the people ringing the door bell late in the night made us wake up several times. We had to buy ear plugs to use at night to be able to sleep well (in DM stores you can find them for under 4€). We felt uncomfortable as we lacked from privacy. This feeling comes from not being aware that the accommodation is an hostel. Zack sleeps in the bench on the main hall, which made me uncomfortable to go to the bathroom at the middle of the night. The hostel could benefit from the removal of the mold and rust in the bathroom which are dangerous for the health. In summary, if we knew there was no kitchen and that it wasn’t an hostel, we wouldn’t have come here. Still, I recommend the accommodation to people that are fine with...
Read moreA nice and cozy hostel in the best location in Belgrade.
It's 10-20 minutes away from all the most important attractions in the Belgrade center. If you ask the manager, Zak, he will give you all the directions. He even gave me a copy of the tourist map with the most visited places, and gave some tips for food, shopping and sightseeing.
Bus from the airport stops 3 minutes away from the hostel, that was also very convenient.
For my entire stay the room, the bathroom and the mini kitchen very clean and orderly. The kitchen is small but useful, you have a fridge, all basic kitchen utensils and a nice collection of tea an coffee to choose from. For the future, it would be great if one day the hostel found some place for a microwave, but otherwise it's all great.
If you're looking for entrance, once you're in the building, go straight up the stairs to your left. You will see the signs there.
Overall, the hostel has a great underground vibe, do not go in expecting a nordic minimalist style. If you're a rock fan and value character more than some sort of modern idea of "clean" look, you will feel...
