The mattress was uncomfortable. I could feel the slats of the wooden bed through the mattress. I woke up with back pain the next morning. NO SWIMMING POOL. The picture on their website is misleading. It has been converted into a fireplace. PLEASE take that photo down. I promised my daughter there is a pool. I could have stayed in a Guest house in the area for R70( ±5$) per room per night more. Definitely my next choice. I have stayed in Wilderness backpackers before and had a better experience in a 12 bed dorm than in this double room. The only reason I booked here was that they offered me two single beds. Since I had a car the location was of no help. I was promised that we are the only once using the bathroom and left our personal stuff there, only to find out the next morning the staff were also using the bathroom. If you do consider staying here make sure you do not get the 2 rooms below the bar. No view as nice as in the pictures. You are almost under ground. Windows looking out on a dilapidated wooden fence and sliding door unto a wall 1.5m...
Read moreThe rooms are clean however there are no lockers in the dorm or a way to lock the bedroom door and the bathroom door didn’t lock, as a solo female in a room with random men this was quite uncomfortable. There was an old man in my room for the 2 nights that was telling me about being homeless and a drug addict and generally telling bizarre different stories every time I saw him, walking around with just a towel wrapped about his crotch and having general bizarre behaviour and making strange noises. This made me feel very uncomfortable. The second night there were 3 older men from port Elizabeth that were very loud and shone their torches in my face whilst I was sleeping to see if I was asleep which also made me feel very uncomfortable especially as a solo female in a room with 5 older men. It was very noisy late into the night with people drinking and shouting outside the room. There wasn’t a backpacker vibe at the hostel. Onele on reception was exceptional, a credit...
Read moreWe didn't plan on stopping here on our #travellocalwithcee journey, but boy are we glad the travel gods sent us. We had an amazing stay in a private ensuite room, for three days with the team at Island Vibe Knysna.
From the first evening, where we sat around a bonfire and listened to the beautiful sounds of the Coffee Bay Drum Crew to being able to use the kitchen even during loadshedding because of their gas stove.
The Node - Plant Based and Vegan cafe is in walking distance, as is Spar, Woolworths, PnA, several Bank branches and The Waterfront. We actually walked from The Waterfront to Thesen Island and back one day and it's was super easy and we got stunning views of the Knysna ocean/river.
Definitely a must stay property if you're in Knysna and looking for helpful, friendly staff, chilled accommodation and a trustworthy backpackers.
With love from @...
