80% Apple, No Chilli, Ill Attituded and a scrambled misfortune. Four components contributing towards my defective culinary experience at 34°C South.
We arrived at the establishment at 10:00AM, keen for a hearty breakfast. The waitor informed us that it is a busy season and food may take a while to arrive. We cooperated and understood what we would be getting involved in.
We ordered a breakfast muesli, two croissants, one with scrambled eggs and peppers, two LCHF breakfasts and two pizzas. Only to be informed 15 minutes later that there were no more croissants. We refurbished the order, no problem. An additional 15 minutes elapsed only to be informed that there were no oopsie breads available (key ingredient in the LCHF dish). A slight spanner in the works, but alas an additional refurbishment was made.
After waiting an additional 45 minutes. The food had arrived, albeit at a slightly longer waiting period than anticipated (predicted an hour of waiting during busy times).
To our demise, the muesli was stale and the promised variety of fruits were replaced with sliced apple and a small piece of banana. The scrambled eggs did not contain any peppers and instead they were presented in a side dish which smelt strongly of meat product (the party I was with were vegetarian and we informed the waitor about this). The pizzas were greeted with a small ramakin with chili garlic and an unidentified substance. I requested for some chilli on the side, as I did not feel conformable using their concoction and was met with a stern no.
I informed the manager about the aforementioned issues and they handled the situation tactfully and offered us a free breakfast the following day, unfortunately we were leaving early the next day so that was not possible, but the sentiment is appreciated.
I've been here many times before and have had a pleasant time, their dessert selection is truly exquisite. Despite this horrible experience I would still recommend this establishment, perhaps try...
Read moreWe went to 34 because it was highly recommended by my friends. So here is my unbiased review: The view --- 4 stars. Amazing location The menu --- 5 stars. Lots of variety and I loved the fact that there were tons of banting options The quality of food --- 5 stars. We ordered line fish and other things and the quality was impeccable The service --- 2 stars. My issue starts here. The waitress / waiter were fine and helpful but it took a whooping 30 minutes for the main course to arrive. It would have been helpful if they informed us of the delay... but nada!!! and no apologies too. Value for money --- 2 star. We ordered a bisque that costed ZAR 140. It tasted ok (I know cooking a bisque needs a lot of effort, I just couldn't fathom the uniqueness. The tomato flavor overpowered it) may be worth 80 but not 140 and was not filling, if the quantity was good I would have been ok. Sadly no. The line fish was good, in flavor and quantity but I felt let down when it came to the bisque.
For me the last two points were the most important. So hence I my overall rating of 2. Having said that it's a great place... maybe my day was a bad day. But please try and experience...
Read moreMan what a let down and disappointment!
Menu outside different from the menu inside only 2 burgers 🍔 to choose from but outside menu shows more, waiter was not sure what we were talking about.
I had the brie and fig burger and man it was nothing special, they couldn't even give me a small salad 🥗 instead of the chips , even for 140 burger which was very underwhelming.
My wife had the seafood Jambalaya and it was just a mess why does it come with popdoms?? It's not a curry and they made it so saucy so all she could taste was that 🍅 sauce! It had chirzo, shirps, mussels ,prawn,, calamari but very minimal and she couldn't taste any seafood due to the tomato sauce.
The staff seem have hearted too just a whatever attitude.
Overall it's a massive overpriced disappointment
Prices are crazy ..I paid 140 for my burger 🍔 and I know many places that do much better for less, can't even give me salad 🥗 instead of chips what nonsense!
For the foreigners and the city folks there are much better restaurant s at cheaper prices in Knysna , especially in seafood.
Back in the day this place was a good restaurant but for now it's lost its way big time.
Won't be back...
