Extremely rude owner/ manager. Have no regard or manner on how to talk to people. This restaurant does not represent Indian hospitality and the way food is served. The onions amd lemons are served as sides by default in Indian hospitality but not here. Rotis were made of maida and not wheat. The handwash/toilet areas are unhygienic, the poster are like what we get for 5 rupees in an Indian carnival. The sarees hung for decoration were like never been washed - really unhygienic. No air condition or fan was there for ventilation. When we asked politely are you from India and which part, the owner rudely replied he isn't. This made lot more sense that India and our food and hospitality is not represented here. The restaurent is opened just for the sake of minting money in country's name. Giving one star because lower rating is not available. Overall would never recommend anyone to visit here just because of this owner's/ manager's behavior.
Edit- replying to your response: Appreciate you responding to the comments, but kindly note that when people go and eat outside they are not just going for food but for the whole dining experience. Else everyone can just eat at home where food is much more delicious. You may write a whole monologue in response but the fact remains is a lot of people here have complained about the co-owner as can be seen in other reviws and we unfortunately have experienced it ourselves. I have had opportunity of eating in several other Indian restaurents in South Africa where salads and condiments are served on the side which is quiet basic to Indian cuisine. Only exception to this was your resturent. Not sure why you are comparing a random toilet in India to your restaurant's toilet!! My comment is about unhygienic and bad ventilation that I experienced at your place. Anyways, its your business and depends on whether you wanna apply feedback/ criticism to your restaurant or keep defending...
Read moreI would not even give this restaurent one star..But this is the only lowest rating I can give..The owner or Manager (baldy), ..The most depressing faced and rude person on this earth..He opened the remote controlled door from his chair and instead of welcoming us he straight brought us the menu card...then he disappeared into kitchen and only came after 15 mins god knows after doing what exactly..We ordered starters and main course at once ...Starters which was like counted pieces for four of us one for each...The starters were extremely tasteless but we were hopeful maybe the main course would be better..when the meal arrived our hopes crashed like house of cards...It was bigger disappointment than starters..We just ate for the sake of our hunger ...the owner or manager (wfwh) did not even bother to ask if the food was okay or we need anything else..He just sat on the billng counter and stayed there like he was facing a gun if he gets up...We were very disappointed and decided not to pay any tip as the service was extremely rude and he was acting like he was doing a huge favor to us...To our surprize the bill came with adding his tip which was 15% of the total amount...when asked the bald guy simply said its the charge by default..He is a Fraud I decided to post this review because I dont want anyone else to face this kind unpleasant...
Read moreThe owner was hospitable and service was great. We had a good chat about where our respective families are from. Our little ones can’t handle too much spice and the owner was very good about gauging spice levels and not making the food overly spicy. One of our kids had upset stomach and the owner was very accommodating and gracious about the situation. Great service all around!
Now, the most important part - the food…simply DELICIOUS. What he is serving is SOUTH AFRICAN Indian food. It will taste different than Indian food from India or North America. For example, we’ve been ordering butter chicken at different Indian restaurants in Johannesburg and Cape Town just for comparison and they all have similar taste profile with far less cream and a hint of coconut. Different from what we’re used to in Canada/USA but delicious nonetheless. If you cast away the rigid notion of how Indian food should taste and approach it with an open mind, you’ll be incredibly rewarded with the experience. Would definitely visit again if we have the...
