The positioning of this hotel is great; it’s right by the Waterfront. Parking is available at an additional charge. The reception staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the room required a little maintenance – silly things like the fridge door screeched on opening, and the aircon remote wasn’t working but the shower was awesome. I don’t like a combined bodywash/conditioning shampoo which was provided, but that is a personal quirk. The Wi-Fi password (which didn’t require a separate password, linked to your room, once you had logged in), was hidden on a blue slip of paper in the keycard holder, not sure why as it was on the board, right by reception! Breakfast was a disaster, the hotel was full (it was the oyster festival) and there weren’t enough tables, or when you found a table, it hadn’t had the cutlery replaced, coffee took for-ever to arrive (in a cup with no teaspoon….). The next day the hotel was a lot quieter, but service at breakfast was no better! The food, however, was standard breakfast food, enough variety to keep me happy (and I...
Read moreCompetent and kind staff being at lobby, porter, breakfast, everywhere. We were immediately offered welcome biscuits and drink in our room. The bathroom was very nice, the AC seems however to have its own mind regarding the temperature you select. Very comfy beds in a probably recently renovated room. True that not all room have nice views and that there is no restaurant indoors, which is a severe drawback in winter, BUT, there are numerous contracted restaurants on the waterfront and one accepts Prokard if you have one, plus you are well informed upon checking in without having to ask. Definitely a hotel that deserves its 4 stars rating. Fast free unlimited wifi is another highlight. The common areas are in excellent shape. The breakfast is honest for the price, as for the rooms when booking as a Marriott reward cat. 1.
A flaw however : internet station computers are unfortunately not powerful enough to transfer large pieces of data, check twice that your data is where you transferred it before deleting it...
Read moreI booked for a weekend to end my honeymoon at this protea hotel. It's the first time I stayed over in one. I've always heard that the protea hotel was very luxurious and THÉ hotel to stay in. But after that weekend and the amout of money I paid. It reminded me of the cheaper City Lodge. Outdated and old
I've booked via Momentum Multiply as I got discount on a room for 2 guest. I have a printscreen that proofs my quote I got and paid for. Momentum gave me false information as it was actually just for me alone. When I got at reception I had to pay extra for my wife. When I got to the room it was two single beds with a view to the back street, and above the generator.
If I have known it was going to be like this I would've booked somewhere else.
The only nice thing I can say is thay the buffet breakfast was nice and that I got a bottle of JC Le Roux as a gift when I said it's...
