The Mount Rochelle Hotel offers spectacular views and beautiful surroundings, with amenities such as a swimming pool and tennis court, making it a memorable destination overall. However, our experience at the hotel’s restaurant didn’t match the setting—the food lacked flavor and the atmosphere felt flat, (our table given to a big group of outside guests)which was disappointing given the hotel’s reputation. Wine tasting is conveniently close by, but logistical details like the impatient waitress and the absence of non alcoholic drinks detracted from the overall experience. While the pool area’s ambience was stunning, cleanliness was below expectations, with empty bottles and drinks left out for hours, and some essentials like toilet paper missing in the changing rooms. These lapses in attention and service felt out of place in such a professionally presented location. When mentioning these issues to the manager, we appreciated the apologies but didn’t receive any meaningful follow-up or gesture to address the disappointment. To sum up: Mount Rochelle Hotel is truly an enchanting property and we enjoyed much of our stay, but some aspects—particularly dining and service details—could benefit from more care to live up to the setting’s...
Read moreWe celebrated a pre-Father's Day evening with a table of eight guests. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.
I ordered a Margherita, which lacked flavor, balance, and wasn’t chilled adequately—neither my wife, another guest, nor I drank it. Although I mentioned this to the waiter, the response was simply an apology with no further action taken.
The beetroot tartare starter was average at best—nothing special. For my main course, I ordered the lamb. It arrived rare with unrendered fat, making it less enjoyable. The mash was only warm, and the accompanying jus was thick and gloopy, certainly not a proper wine jus. While the waiter offered to cook the lamb further, by that time I had already eaten one of the three pieces.
No dessert was ordered. The restaurant was busy, and I saw no active manager on the floor—only the waiters attending tables. It was my first time there, but based on this experience, it’s not somewhere I will hurry back to.
Overall, the food quality and service did not meet our...
Read moreWow. The most beautiful location for a hotel with incredible 360 views of the mountain side. This is a proper 5* hotel. The hotel team were phenomenal. The taster menu in their main restaurant was world class of course along with the wine pairing. Breakfast choice was very good for a cold section which you can upgrade at a reasonable price for anything hot like eggs Benedict. Even the bar food menu was perfect and had a great burger. The grounds were immaculate. Swimming pool was heated to a nice level which on a cool early September evening made it bearable to swim. Our room was very modern and had all luxuries although a tad on the smaller side. The view from the ground floor balcony by their fountain was amazing. Unlimited snacks and drinks in the room fridge as well. Being driven down to the wine tram for free was a lovely touch and something you must do when visiting. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and wish it was more than 2 nights for our honeymoon! Will...
