Note : We stayed at Sumi Guesthouse #2, in Haundae, Busan.||||Pros : Restaurant on the other side of the street and cleanliness.||||Cons : Poor service .. Reading reviews on different website we thought it would be a nice and warming spot to stay in Busan. False. Never been in a so cold environment while travelling the world. I opt for these types of lodging because I like human contact ; to really get in touch with the hosts and their culture. ||||It was our 4th lodging in South Korea, and we had pleasant time everywhere we've stayed. ||||As the door opened, a guy who barely spoke to us (maybe he was super shy) took us in our room. Spacious and clean. We were glad of the setup (like the three other time before, dah). Then, after a couple of minutes, ''Dude'' showed me the Wi-Fi password (which is the most reported thing they have to offer when consulting the web). He gave me a map of Busan (way go ''Dude'', you get some points!). ||||But it's where friendliness stops.||||''Dude'' disapeared. And we were left alone in that no soul appartment. ||||Maybe some people get friends with Teddy Bears and Post-It saying : ''Don't touch this! Don't touch that!''.||||Two cameras are watching us in the ''don't use my'' kitchen. Permanently. That's freaking. But security has necessities, I guess ...||||Yep, we were home alone, exactly opposed as what we wanted and what was announced in all those cheerful comments around the web. ||||Well, ''it's not that bad'', you'll say. And I agree. Im not whining about not meeting new friends. Could be worse, it happenned to me a couple of times in other countries.||||Nah, the reason why Im writing a bad review is the attitude we received at check-out time.||||Read carefully.||||So, night before check-out, ''Dude'' tell me he won't be there next morning, so I'll have to make a self check-out. Fine.||||- I won't be here around 11am so could you please leave the room key on the bed, and close the doors ?.||||- Yeah, cool. I answered.||||Next morning, we felt lazy, and decided to sleep until 11am. Then we started packing our bags and prepare to catch the 4pm plane that was taking us to Jeju Island.||||We asked ourselves : ''Shall we go get breakfast and come back later to finish our backpack? Anyways, doesn't look like there is a rush, there is absolutely nobody in this place''.||||Then an emergency alarm started to ring. ||||Like huge and stressful alarm. I thought there was a fire or a tsunami coming. My heart just started to rebound in my chest. I was stressed.||||Until I realized it was coming from the camera !!||||The host saw us in her place a 11:30am and decided that we must leave quickly !||||After a 5min alarm, a robocop voice message started saying ''Please check-out''.||||Wait. What ??!!||||Seriously ??!||||That is disgusting. Never been disrespected that much in a supposed ''friendly and welcoming Guesthouse''.||||What if our plans have changed ?! What if something happened and we must speak to the person in charge ?! What if we just want to leave our backpacks in the lobby to just go chill around for a coffee-breakfast before departure ???!||||And the poor service doesn't stop here ...||||My girlfriend, who booked for us, text message the host. Conversation escalated quickly to : ''If you are not out by 1pm, we will charge you an extra day''. ||||With that background alarm sound.||||So we escaped as fast as we could that robot pension.||||Plus, the host gave a super bad review on my girlfriend profile. ||||After expressing ourselves to the host, who didn't want to apologies on any level and was uttermost patronizing, my girlfriend express her disatisfaction on the website where she booked. ||||Reply from host is quite defensive, to not say a bunch of crap. ||||For example, she lied on my behavior of walking around naked while in fact (and it's on camera !!) I was going to get water in the middle of the night wearing swim shorts. She accused us for ''not respecting other cultures and host directives'' and calling us the worst travellers ever. ||||That is what a call...
Read moreIt is cheap, clean, quite, and near to the spot where you like to go and see around Busan, especially Haeundae beach area. We spent 3 nights in there and finished all the trip schedules we made. The owner is really kind and I love his gorgeous dogs. It's just really minor thing here that it's sort of difficult to find the guest house as it's located in the same building with a PC room. The guest house name is written in Korean so quite challenging to find it. But if you ask people around there, they might help you. Use your map and show to the local people or store or cafe...
Read moreThe guesthouse is very clean and neat. The beds are on the harder side (which I happen to like) and the bathrooms are in an excellent state.||You have contact with the host via WhatsApp which works for us. The conversation was pleasant and immediate.||The 24h surveillance is kind of creepy and the kitchen has a more decorative purpose as there is only one not so nice pan to cook with.| |So yes we would definite stay again. But if you look for something cozy a hostel might be...
