Modern hotel in the fringe of Myeongdong. Away from the heart and life of the area and yet easy to dive back in. ||We arrived early in the morning and parked our luggage with the bell hops. We recommend asking the team to call a cab for you. We tried the local ride hailing app and they cannot seem to get down into the drop off point of the hotel. The Ground floor lobby area is below street level. Blink and the taxi will miss the turning to go down the ramp. ||We came back after a sweaty day at the Palace grounds and managed to check in close to 3pm. Next to the front desk area on the 4th floor, you’ll find some coffee and hot tea, Hagendaz ice cream for Marriott Bonvoy members. ||Rooms are good sized, well appointed, and well maintained. We snagged a top floor room overlooking Myeongdong. Bonvoy membership has its privileges. ||We also had to scan our room card to use the lift and the gym. Security is important here.||Typical room layout with the a long walkway in with toilets on the side and opening up to the bed room. The walkway has a cupboard that looks deceptively narrow, but it’s actually full sized. The room safe, lots of hangers, a bathrobe and slippers are all housed here. The cupboard was big enough to place my wife’s check-in luggage (mid size) and for her to work out of. ||The toilet is quite large. The loo has “Japanese-style toilet functions” built in. Walk in rain shower was cavernous and gels/shampoo/conditioner is placed on the wall. There’s a knee high ledge to place your personal items. ||A single sink with enough space for hotel amenities box plus our personal amenities to be laid out for easy use. Sink stopper holds in water well, so washing clothes is not an issue. ||The bedroom is a combination of marble, parquet and carpet. Carpet is around the bed; parquet around the fringes of the bedroom and marble around the room corridor and toilet. Bed is super comfortable and we had good nights sleep here. We did not hear the street sounds, but do expect kids to run around the corridor. ||Side table has multiple charging options including plug points and USB. An iPad communicator for room items and communicating with the hotel team is on the bed side table. ||On the wall on the opposite side of the bed is a round table that has a single high stool next to it. Unfortunately it seemed to be leaking air and would slowly drop down to chair height. ||A large TV is on the wall. Plenty of cable stations, sports, kids and local TV. WiFi is available in the room. Air con works well and we had it nice and cool throughout our stay. ||There’s a cupboard next to the TV where the tea/coffee facilities are. An ILLY expression machine is provided but I much preferred the ease of use of a Nespresso. ||A nice touch was the water dispenser in the room… no plastic bottles. You can use the supplied glass or water bottle but you’ll have to buy the items. There’s also a fridge drawer built into the cupboard. In the drawers, there are glasses, cups, spoons and other useful items. ||I used the gym everyday. I’d say it is a nice gym with a great selection of free weights and even kettle bell. Gym equipment is by Technogym. There’s also weights machines, weights rack, cardio machines available. I thought the mats needed more cleaning by the team, but otherwise was more than adequate for a good workout. ||I tried to get a check out extension on the Marriott Bonvoy app but it was not working. I did it the old fashioned way and the staff were super efficient and polite. ||Immediately below at the hotel is a convenience store, and around the area is Lotte and Shinsegae department store. Lots of shopping and eating to be done in the area! ||We enjoyed our stay at Le Meriedien Seoul Myeongdong, and would recommend it if you want to stay in...
Read moreOur family of three had a wonderful seven night experience at Le Meridien in Myeongdong.
Originally, we reserved a four night stay and had another Marriott hotel reserved for the remaining three nights in Seoul. However, we were so impressed with the service of the staff, room quality, club lounge and the location, we decided to cancel our other reservation and extend our stay.
The rooms were modern, clean and new. We requested an additional twin bed (for additional cost) for our young child which was a great option that not all the hotels in Seoul offered. The beds were comfortable and everything worked as expected.
Though the club lounge was an additional fee we felt the cost was worth it because each day we woke up very early as we adjusted to the new time zone. We did not know what the breakfast options would be around the hotel before sunrise so we thought having food available at 6:30am would be beneficial. The club lounge was well decorated, spacious, comfortable and offered nice views of Namsan Tower. There were unlimited fresh juices, bottled and sparkling water along with various soft drinks. Fresh fruit and a wide variety of breakfast items which all tasted fresh and flavorful. Western items like bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, fresh omelet or eggs made upon request. Pastries and cereal were also available as some items repeated every other day. It was also nice to have a variety of Korean dishes available during breakfast such as perfectly cooked rice, seaweed soup, kimchi soup, rice porridge and bulgogi just to name a few items. During snack and evening time, beer, wine and spirits were available for guests to enjoy which were all included in the cost of the lounge access. During the evening light appetizers were served but on some nights the evening items acted as our dinner. There was always a protein item along with a large variety of other light appetizers where you didn’t have to eat dinner again if you did not want to.
The 24 hour fitness centers offers all new equipment with good weight machine and cardio Unfortunately, the pool was under repair during our stay so we were unable to enjoy it.
This was our first visit to Seoul and the central location was excellent! It is near two major train stations and multiple bus lines. You can also request a taxi which was much more affordable than ride share services or taxi’s in the United States. The hotel is seconds from the heart of the Myeongdong market. The hotel is also located right next to the Chinese Embassy and a Chinese National School so there was always a police presence during our stay near the hotel without feeling obtrusive. We never felt unsafe walking around the hotel at any time of the day. It was also very quiet inside the hotel rooms. We didn’t hear our neighbors or any major street noise that prevented us from sleeping or enjoying some hours of rest after a long day of sightseeing.
We would definitely stay at Le Meridien again in the future and highly recommend this hotel to guests whether you are traveling solo, as a couple, with friends or family.
Thank you again...

Feature: Software: My last stay in this property was January this year. The big surprise is, when I check-in, one friendly staff remembers me and takes good care of my check-in. She is the Ms. Soyi Lee whom I left thank note on my previous review for her top notch service. Once again, I am grateful for her and Mr. James Lee, the GM of this property, should know that he has the best quality staff.
The benefits for Platinum elite, especially free access on Fitness, Pool and Lounge, are excellent. Considering the room rates or redemption (normally 30-40K), it has really good values incl. room condition and the quality of evening Hors d'oeuvre.
Hardware: The property is renovated from the original artwork of the famous architect, Su-Geun Kim. It is in good location in central Seoul and it is wonderfully designed incl. Fitness, Pool, Lounge and Rooms with view over City or Namsan Mountain. It is walking distance to the down town Myeongdong area. It also has good access to the department stores and palaces.
The one Bedroom Suite has privacy wall and 2 bathrooms which are very good for a family. Both toilets are equipped with Daelim Bath automatic smartlet with cleansing, bidet and drying functions for comfortable uses. Normal rooms, even if it is not a Suite, are spacious enough to stay in 34-45 sqm.
This new property is recommendable especially for sightseeing or business because it is in very good location of...
