Disonest Liars! I am going to hold a vacation trip with my wife in Spain between the end of September and the middle of October. Wednesday night I made two reservations at Violeta Boutique on a famous hotel site. I booked an apartment with a bedroom and terrace for a total of 313.20 euros for the 3 days between 26 and 29 September and the "family room" for 375.84 euros for the 3 days between 13 and 16 of October . Well, at dawn that same day, I started to receive SMS messages in which Violeta Boutique indicated that my card was invalid, which I knew was not true! Soon after, I received other messages that my reservations had been canceled. Well, I called my bank that confirmed that there was no problem with my card. Worse, they told me that Violeta Boutique tried to make the pre-authorization with a zero value, which is impossible, since it has to be worth more than 0, and the attendant told them they should know it very well! I know my card is working perfectly because I made other reservations in the same period on the same hotel website and I made another reservation to test with the same card for the period 09/26/2018 to 09/29 / 2018 at Hotel CHI in Barcelona on the same day that Violeta Boutique canceled my reservations and Chi succesfully pre-authorized more than $ 145 on the same card. What most upset me was that Violeta Boutique re-listed the same rooms for these two periods for higher prices (505.44 euros for 26/09 to 29/09 and 587.52 euros for 13/10 to 16/10); I have printed evidence proving this. It is clear that the Violet regretted for some reason to accept my reservations and lied that my card was invalid to cancel them. With this, I will have to spend more to stay in Barcelona. Read moreThe first thing that impressed was the location. A five minute walk from the Plaça de Catalunya so really handy if you get the airport bus. Next thing was Louis the receptionist. What a guy, helpful and enthusiastic he made our stay perfect , even arranging a wonderful tasting bottle of cava for my wife’s birthday. To be fair all of the receptionists were brilliant, but we had more contact with Louis than the others. We were in room one. A “superior” room. More of a suite really, large bathroom with a walk in shower and a bedroom with a super king sized bed. A small balcony looks over the main road outside. A great overview of a busy Barcelona street but with shutters and two levels of double glazed doors, we could shut out all of the noise at night. Coffee machine In our room made great coffee, but we did have to ask for “pods” and milk from reception. There is no breakfast on offer, but delicious muffins and coffee available and we consumed these on a lovely terrace at the back of the hotel. Checkout is 11 am, and our flight was not until the evening, so the hotel provide a good secure room to store luggage in until it is time to return to the airport. If you don’t feel like going too far for something to eat there is a great choice of restaurants within a five minute walk of the hotel. I would give this hotel a five star rating. It was excellent. There is a lift but not very big, so I am not sure it would be great for wheelchair users so if you fall into this category, I would contact the hotel first. Read moreI stayed here on a recent five night visit to Barcelona. The hotel has a lot of pluses, particularly the location and the friendly desk staff. There were some big minuses for me. The biggest was my single room, which was right across the hall from the massive wooden door everyone uses to get in and out of the floor. The slamming, heavy door was incredibly loud and of course I could hear all of the conversations when people were coming and going. The room also had almost no natural light. The bathroom was good sized and clean on the plus side. Overall I regret getting a single room at this hotel Also, three of the four full mornings I was there (I left quite early the fifth day) the two cleaning staff folks were basically yelling to each other between rooms in having conversations.
