My wife and I just left this place. We are in Barcelona for our honeymoon and this restaurant was recommended by our tour guide.

We did not have reservations, but the host said we could have a table if we would be done in an hour, as he needed it back. This was fine for us as we just wanted to try a few things at this place then try another tapas bar later in the night.

The older, heavy set, bald man, Giovanni, was our server. We ordered water (as we wanted to have our alcohol later at another place) and tried 5 things off the tapas menu.

We tried the ratatouille, the chicken croqueta, spinach croqueta, patatas bravas and croqueta de chocolate.

The ratatouille was good and we enjoyed it. The chicken croqueta was just ok--no flavor. The spinach croqueta was delicious as well as the croqueta de chocolate.

The patatas bravas was not the best we have had. It was not crispy and the did not have the 'bravas' spiciness as other tapas bars have.

The food was ok, but Giovanni and the service was cold. He was friendly to Spanish speaking guests, but very unwelcoming to us Americans.

We didn't have any issues with the service in Barcelona, except at this restaurant. Giovanni, didn't even say thank you after we paid. He just handed my card back and left.

There are many other places in Barcelona with good food. The service we received here was terrible and put us in a bad mood for the night.

Please...

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge and I always take those recommendations with a grain of salt, but we were starved so we headed over. It was early, around 8pm, so we were seated right away. It took about 20+ minutes before anyone came to take our food and drink orders but it soon proved to be well worth the wait. The croquettes we ordered were the best we’ve ever had - ham, chorizo and egg, and spinach and Brie. The burrata salad was also delicious and the Ibérica board was generous. The sangria was also great. We ordered the bread with tomato, which is exactly as described. The bread was fresh, and although I wasn’t a huge fan (just a matter of personal taste), my daughter loved it. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant, and will try to return before we leave the city. (In case it matters to you, we visited in July but the main indoor dining room was a pleasant cool temperature. If you’re bothered by cigarette smoke, I would generally recommend you eat indoors throughout the city, even if the weather is mild. I realized this after the fact and was grateful we had opted to...

Was recommended by a local. Waited 45 minutes for table, which is typical for a lot of places in the states on a Saturday. Not a bad deal. The 20 minutes sitting waiting for waitress at the table was frustrating. She took our order, brought drinks, came back, kitchen staff brought food out, but not all of it. She checked on us about 45 minutes later. Tried to flag her down, but she seemed to be annoyed and avoided us. When we told her that she forgot my son's order and just wanted the check, she went into the kitchen and 10-15 minutes later she came out with my son's plate. Set it down while walking by and walked off for even longer. She tended to the Spanish tables very often and tables that arrived way later than us took precedence. No refilled drinks the whole time. She was bringing drinks on the regular to other tables and being friendly. Not even a smile and she seemed annoyed we were there. Patricia was her name. Good luck if you get her. 1st time in all my years not tipping someone. We went to other restaurants that were better priced and had...

Wow wow wow. I randomly came for a light dinner very unplanned since I was a bit hungry and it was right in front of my hotel, and I am not joking, it was THE best iberico and pan con tomato I’ve had in Spain, and I’ve been to 8 cities here eating A LOT of pan con tomato and iberico hams. The bread is perfectly toasted with a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil, very crispy, light, and fresh with that acidity from the fresh tomatoes. Add a slice of iberico ham on top and it was a piece of perfecto 👌I’ve never had an iberico that literally melts in your mouth. Very smooth and tender. I ordered only 1/2 portions of each menu and I must admit, I sort of regretted it :( Thank you also for your great, fast service. Really loved the young gentleman who made sure everything was okay and checking up on us every two minutes. Very beautiful shop also, with every corner a history. Highly recommend !!!

We had dinner at Casa Alfonso, and it was an unforgettable experience. Arriving around 8:30pm on a Friday, we were lucky to get the last table – by the time we left, a big crowd was waiting outside! The atmosphere was beautiful and comforting, and the service made it even more special. Our server, Montse, was so kind and patient, guiding us through the menu with such care. She made us feel truly welcome and added to the joy of the evening. The food was incredible. The croquettes were perfect, but the crispy aubergine with goat’s cheese and honey was extraordinary – so good we ordered it again! The menu was full of tempting options, and every dish we saw looked amazing. A thoughtful touch we loved was the little pull-out shelf for drinks when the table was full of tapas. It was such a lovely, joyful experience. Casa Alfonso is a must-visit, and we hope to return one day!
