My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Carmen de la Alcubilla del Caracol during our recent visit to Granada. The Carmen is very beautiful, and has been lovingly cared for. It has seven unique rooms, and a shaded courtyard with fountains and gardens throughout the property. The views of the surrounding Granada hillsides are spectacular.
Alejandro is a thoughtful and gracious host, and part of what makes this Carmen so special. He is a Granada native, and a great source of information about the area. His insights were particularly valuable for our visit to the Alhambra. He gave us a map and annotated it to show us the best way to go in, and how to easily navigate all of Granada. The Carmen is very close to the Alhambra, and a particularly good accommodation for visiting it.
Another member of the team at the Carmen de la Alcubilla del Caracol who helped make our visit so special was Robin, who prepared a great breakfast for us each morning, and also provided excellent suggestions and guidance on the area. Breakfast in the courtyard of the Carmen with that amazing view was a highlight of our vacation in Spain.
I wholeheartedly recommend this Carmen for visitors to Granada. It is worlds apart from the standard corporate hotel options, and a truly...
Read moreWe spent 3 wonderful days in Granada. When we arrived Alejandro was there to meet us. He insisted on helping with our luggage. He gave us a thorough orientation to his guest house. He gave expert advice on what we may like to do and see during our time in Granada. He likes to call his business a guest house, I think boutique hotel is more appropriate. The common spaces and rooms are clean. He said we had a small room, it was more than adequate and had plenty of space. Breakfast was served on a patio overlooking the city. He keeps a well stocked bar which works on the honour system. The hotel is just below the Alhambra, a short 10 minute walk away. Downtown is just below you, again 10 minutes, where there are many antiquities, restaurants and stores. Secure parking is available, although the drive to the hotel is along the narrowest streets in the world - charming! The internet service is poor, but an upgrade is coming. I do not think you will be disappointed if you choose to stay...
Read moreThis property / house is quite amazing and a real special place in Granada. Not only does it sit on top of the hill to offer incredible views of the city, but it is close to many important sites (Alhambra) to see while visiting there. The owner (Alejandro) is very kind, informative and fun to talk to about all things. One of his key staff person (Lorenzo) is equally kind and conversational. Lorenzo makes a very nice breakfast daily that gets you going to start the day. Conchi is also another important host in the property as she provides quality care for your room. The property is very homey, quaint and with peacefully beautiful gardens that feel nothing like a typical hotel. It is quiet and a great place to stay while in Granada. But, you must be ready to wear your best walking shoes because Granada has many stairs, steps, ramps and elevation changes throughout the city. However, that is part of the beauty of the city but it requires some energy to get...
