Booked this hotel after reviews on Trip Advisor and if you’re like me - please LOOK NO FURTHER - this is the place to stay in Madrid. Travelled with my wife for a two week trip to Spain and our first stop was the Gran Hotel Inglés in Madrid. We arrived at 8am after flying all night and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We were offered drinks and quickly got checked in - our room was ready and we went straight up without any fuss. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The beds were great - no back pain for this traveller.

The concierge helped us arrange a private tour of the Palace (HIGHLY recommend if you are interested in the history of Spain and the Monarchy - our guide was incredible - Alfonso - whole experience took about 2 hours and was well worth the money), and a sunset dinner at Cornamusa - this was their recommendation and WOW - one of the best dining experiences of my life - HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The concierge service is seamless - they use WhatsApp and respond right away if you have a spur of the moment question. We went to Toledo and they sent us a long list of things to do and restaurant options in Toledo.

We had the breakfast option and each morning had our choice of a variety of eggs and a buffet that featured fruit, yogurt, cheeses, iberico ham, breads and pastries, and cereal. Very delicious and served with coffee and juice.

We would typically have a drink at their expansive bar before heading out at night.

Wi-Fi was great, showers were incredible, we had some laundry done and it came back ironed and so neat.

Check out was simple and they held our bags until we were ready to depart for the train station.

The hotel is in a great location - very close to the SOL and Anton Martin Metro Stations. From either you can get to the Atocha - although we walked most places given the great location of the hotel - everything is within a 30 minute walk. Easy access to restaurants, shopping and many of the sights you would want to see in Madrid.

While we both tried to be respectful of the language neither my wife or I can speak more than a few words of Spanish. This was not an issue at the Hotel (or frankly most places we visited in Madrid) as everyone spoke English very well. I don’t remember all of the names of the Employees or I would list them as they were...

I have been visiting this hotel for nearly three years, totalling over six visits. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was horrendous. There was human excrement on the pillows, yellow stains on the towels, and missing glasses. Additionally, the pillows were stained on the inside.

The staff seemed clueless, with the exception of Prince and another helpful concierge (whose name I regretfully forgot). The front desk staff were clearly inexperienced. Tariq, the assistant manager, was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered at such an establishment. His behavior was more fitting for a 2-star hotel. Perhaps he would smile more and be less rude to guests there.

When I confronted him about arguing with my wife regarding our children's chicken nuggets (which were disgusting), he responded, "You can't just change your mind after ordering something." Later, he questioned our wine choice, but backed down when challenged. His behavior was extremely unprofessional, and many other guests shared this sentiment.

When I requested a meeting with Tariq and the General Manager, it was scheduled for 9 AM the next day. Neither of them showed up. The GM seems to hide and is never seen, which is likely why the hotel standards are so low. How can a hotel maintain high standards when its leader is absent or avoids issues?

Additionally, the food overall was disgusting. The salmon was dry and appeared to be repeatedly wrapped up, refrigerated, and put back out on the buffet each morning. Previously, the food was excellent, especially the jamon croquetas, but now I can't say one good thing about it. All the staff look like zombies, with zero training or desire to be there. It's quite sad, really.

This was a waste of money. There are better 5-star hotels around the same price with service that is leaps and bounds above GHI. I will continue to follow up on this matter until it is resolved. Overall, this experience transformed the hotel from one of the best to one of the worst in its class. I have contacts who will be reviewing the hotel's standards in the coming months to determine if it still deserves its 5-star...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Gran Ingles, and I cannot express how thoroughly impressed I was with every aspect of our experience. From the moment we stepped into the lobby to the time of our departure, this boutique hotel exceeded all expectations.

The hotel's ambiance is a perfect blend of classic luxury and modern sophistication. The attention to detail in the design of the rooms and common areas is simply impeccable. Each corner of Hotel Gran Ingles exudes a unique charm that sets it apart from other accommodations.

What truly made our stay unforgettable, however, was the outstanding service provided by the staff. Marta, Prince, Joaquim, and Lorena went above and beyond to ensure that our every need was not only met but anticipated. Their warmth and genuine hospitality created an atmosphere that felt more like visiting friends than staying at a hotel.

Marta's professionalism and efficiency at the front desk made check-in and check-out seamless. Joaquim and Lorena, with their wealth of local knowledge, provided excellent recommendations for dining and exploring the city. The personalized touches, from the welcome drinks to the thoughtful gestures throughout our stay, truly made us feel like valued guests.

Our only mistake was staying at this hotel first. Throughout the rest of our travels in Spain we constantly found ourselves comparing every hotel to the Ingles. None of them could live up to our stay there.

In conclusion, Hotel Gran Ingles is a gem in the heart of the city, and its exceptional staff elevates the experience to new heights. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, this boutique hotel is a prime choice for those who appreciate a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and impeccable service. My sincere thanks to Marta, Prince, Joaquim, and Lorena for making our stay truly memorable. We can't...

I had a wonderful time at Gran Hotel Ingles in Madrid. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bed and amenities such as a coffee machine, kettle, fruits and chocolates, which were a nice addition to my stay. The bathroom had a huge shower which was just amazing. I especially enjoyed the spacious balcony with a lovely view of the city. Gran Hotel Ingles is one of the oldest hotels in Madrid, opened in 1886. It is located in the Barrio de las Letras district, the historical center of Madrid. This neighborhood is known for its many cozy streets, bars and restaurants, as well as historical landmarks. Popular places such as the Prado Museum, Retiro Park, Puerta del Sol Square, and the Royal Palace are just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. There are also many wonderful places for walks and sightseeing around the hotel. The hotel is located in a building with a rich history that has been carefully restored to preserve its historical beauty. The building has kept many historical features, including furniture from the rock-and-roll era, creating a unique atmosphere. The hotel staff was very hospitable and always ready to help with anything I needed. I appreciated the attention to detail, such as fruits and chocolates, which were a nice addition to my stay. I highly recommend Gran Hotel Ingles in Madrid for anyone looking for a luxurious place to stay in Madrid with excellent service, convenient location, and rich history.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at the Gran Hotel Inglés and I wish I could give more stars to this hotel! This truly 5 stars hotel is not only incredibly beautiful, but it also offers a level of comfort that is beyond compare. From the moment I entered the hotel, I was captivated by its elegance and charm. The facilities provided were top-notch, ensuring that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. The room surpassed all my expectations. It was not only exquisitely designed, but it was also immaculately clean and wonderfully quiet. I felt like I was in a luxurious oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of the city ( I stayed on the 4th floor). However, what truly made my stay exceptional was the service. The staff at Gran Hotel Inglés went above and beyond to ensure that I felt well looked after. Every member of the team was incredibly kind, attentive, patient and helpful. Their dedication to providing exceptional service made me feel like a VIP guest throughout my stay. I am already eagerly planning my next visit to this hotel. The Gran Hotel Inglés has left an indelible impression on me, and I can't wait to experience its beauty, comfort, and outstanding service once again. It truly is a remarkable hotel that deserves every bit of praise it receives.

Gran Hotel Ingles, Madrid, a true five-stars hotel, member of The Leading Hotels of the World and Hidden Away Hotels. The oldest hotel in Madrid opened its doors for the first time in 1886. Fully restored and renovated. It occupies an unparalleled location in the city center and is close to the capital's districts where culture, commerce and leisure activities can be found. Thank you for the room upgrade.
The Meller Suite is perfectly integrated into the attic, at the end of a corridor, away from the elevator and therefore very quiet. The furnishings are of very high quality, there is a separate living area, a bathroom with a large rain shower and personal care products from L'Occitane, a separate toilet, a sleeping area with a free-standing bathtub and a balcony with a large whirlpool. The suite is very spacious, you can hardly feel the sloping ceilings. The breakfast is from the category “something you never forget” - rich, varied, colorful - a really vital start to the day. Very fine food, excellent service and a great atmosphere. No wish remains unfulfilled, the team works well together and is very guest-focused.
