Do not stay at this hotel. Never have I ever experienced a hotel bathroom where the water closet has floor to ceiling windows with NO PRIVACY screen. From the image I shared you can see the completely SEE THROUGH tiny curtain that they try to pass off....additionally there are two other hotels directly across and a rooftop view with clear visibility into the bathroom. At night the water closet has a motion sensored light that acts as a spotlight and completely lights up this room to anyone from across the way. As soon as I checked into this room I called and let them know that this was not acceptable...I was told that because I asked to switch from another room (3rd floor very loud even at 1PM in the afternoon also with little to no functioning AC) that they could not move me again. They assured me that no one could see in, however I do not believe that for a second. Later I discovered that the toilet only half functioned...see video showing only 1 of two flushing options work. The water in the shower did not get warm, the water barely trickles out of the shower head and the bathroom overall was very dirty and dated. See images of ceiling coming apart, mold and dirt on the floor and the chipped shower fixtures. The lights in the bathroom flickered and one was completely burnt out. The AC in this room was also not great, it would not get below 20 degrees despite being set at 19 for a significant period of time. The curtains were not long or wide enough to over the window and I was awoken very early by the sunrise. Despite being on the 8th floor this room was also extremely loud and you could hear guests inside as well as the riff raff down on the street near the metro station. I want to make it clear as others did, that the management does not care about guests here. I brought all of this to the attention of the hotel during my stay and even shared the same images with them during my stay. They did not care to move me and refused to move me, despite having plenty of other rooms both in my room type and upgrades available. Their reasoning was that "the gold member" was not traveling with me...while my name was on my reservation, my husband who is the hilton gold member was not with me as his flight was cancelled. I want to be clear that the hilton policy states it is the discretion of the hotel to deliver upgrades....the hotel blamed it on hiltons policy when in reality they wanted to be rude and further create an issue. I also want to state that I checked into this hotel earlier in the week and was given an upgrade, despite my husband not being with me. So maybe I just got some employees in a really bad mood or I most likely happened to check in with the only intelligent and polite person working there earlier in the week. This hotel also chose to send an email stating their pool was closed right before the taylor swift concert. I can't help but think that was an interesting coincidence as they gauged customers for a room during that time and then shut down one of the main and only amenities here....during peak season. The management here is absolutely terrible and they 100% chose to keep me in a malfunctioning room. There are plenty of hotels in the area and I can say with certainty that any of them are better than this and do not feature a bathroom with NO PRIVACY. TLDR: Loud and dirty hotel with broken toilet and no window coverings in toilet room...
Read moreThis has to be the BEST hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life. Yes it's that GREAT. Why you ask? Not only is the location perfect, the decor fabulous and the beds are so comfortable. But the most outstanding value is the heart and the care of the staff which is second to none. I am an avid traveler and have visited hotels around the globe. I arrived at the Hotel Montera after already spending 4 days at the Riu Madrid. I was suppose to leave to Barcelona however had to extend my stay in Madrid due to lost luggage which the airline said was arriving at the Madrid airport. I left the Riu and found Perfection in the Montera Madrid! When I arrived the front desk staff (Anna, Lucia and Andre) were so accommodating and kind. I began to share the story of my lost luggage which I seemed to share everywhere I went. I shared it at the Riu at the American Airlines counter at several restaurants and as usual no one really cared. However, not so at the Montera. They sincerely were sympathetic and asked questions to help me find solutions. After checking in I went to my room and was blown away with how beautiful it was. The decor was just perfect. Not 15 minutes had passed of me getting in my room when I hear a knock at the door. When I opened the door there to my surprise was Andre with a complimentary bottle of Cava. He let me know that they know that I had gone through a difficult time because of my lost luggage and that they hoped this small gift would make things better. That small act of kindness meant the world to me!! The bottle of Cava was accompanied by a hand written card expressing their sincere desire that my days would get better. The kindness expressed in the card and bottle of Cava meant everything to me. The next day I had to go on hunt for new luggage and new clothes. Once again Anna, Lucia and Andre were there to help with suggestions on how to resolve my situation. I am so grateful for the staff at the Montera. I would also like to thank the Hotel Manager Givana Fernandez for training her staff in such a beautiful way. I met Givana on my last day and she was just as caring and as kind. She truly exemplifies the spirit of hospitality and kindness. Givana, Andre, Lucia and Anna are true assets to the Hilton Brand!! Thank you for making my last days in Madrid a wonderful...
Read moreMy experience at Hotel Montera Madrid was nothing short of exceptional. Every expectation was exceeded. The staff were so kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful—truly 5-star service. The rooms are stunning. Every detail feels intentional and well thought out, even small touches like reusable water bottles in each room and filtered water dispensers on every floor. I appreciated those thoughtful, eco-friendly details.
After a nine-hour flight from the U.S., I took one of the most satisfying showers in their beautifully designed bathroom—excellent water pressure and hot water almost instantly—and then had one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time. The bed was outrageously comfortable; I honestly considered asking where they bought it so I could buy the same one.
The food at La Braseri was also excellent. I had a fantastic meal and would definitely recommend dining there during your stay.
Overall, I can only highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed, and I will absolutely be staying here again on my next trip to Madrid. I booked through Amex Travel as a Platinum cardholder and received an upgrade on arrival, and the room was magnificent.
A couple of small notes for travelers and for the hotel:
The main entrance is not directly on Gran Vía, and it’s not immediately obvious where cars should pull up. My Uber driver eventually dropped me on a side street after trying to navigate it. If you have a lot of luggage, it may be worth coordinating with the hotel in advance.
The only thing I genuinely didn’t like was the bathroom lighting. For anyone who wears makeup, the single spotlight above the mirror creates shadows and makes application difficult. Lighting on the sides of the mirror would make a huge difference.
That said, these were minor issues compared to everything the hotel does exceptionally well. From beginning to end, my stay was wonderful, and I would recommend Hotel Montera Madrid...
