I had to decide a place to take a brunch in the city centre and it was a fast decision.
(Please, bare in mind this review is taking into account I am a huge fan of tasting and trying places in Madrid and I already have a looong list of places where I have taken brunches of all types).
The atmosphere created in the two last floors of the store has been done with a very clear intention of bringing the idea of a cute garden in the city. It’s prepared then to tourism or -as in my situation- to something like saying “ok, I was already there! Check!”
The brunch is 29€ without the extra drink (glass of champagne, ie). You can choose two dishes (one salty and a second sweet) and a hot and a cold drinks are also included.
The quality of the food is normal. A simply OK to me. We tried the benedict eggs with ham and the pancakes with both hazelnut cream and red berries.
I have always said that the trick to know if the benedict eggs are going to be worth it is in the Hollandaise sauce. Well, the Hollandaise sauce here does not seem to be homemade.
Again, it’s not bad, but it’s not worth it.
Ham was good. It was a nice to know that it looks ibérico at least.
Pancakes were not homemade either, so…
The result is a brunch in which you will pay more for the place than for the food. I get the point of being at Salvador Bachiller and not in a high quality kitchen, but… A bit disappointing.
The place is ideal for drinking a cocktail and have a nice chat for a while. Interior decor was...
Read moreHonestly the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. It took over an hour to get anything we ordered to the table. My friend went to ask a member of staff and they were very rude (our waitress Gabriel was so nice an apologetic the whole time).
We could then see the food lying there getting cold so we asked if we could just collect it ourselves but they brought it over (before the first drinks arrived), the mini burgers still weren't there and took another hour to come but we sent them back because we didn't want to spend any more time there. The food that we did eat was fine, although it was cold.
The cocktails (which are not cheap) took a ridiculous time and they came in Globe things with a tap which looks fancy but it didn't work properly so it came out in drops and took 5 mins to fill a glass. We asked to just put the cocktail in a jug but they came back with another globe which also didn't work until eventually they found a globe that worked. Two of us had mouldy raspberries in our cocktails too.
We asked to speak to the person in charge but she kept ignoring us. They did take some money of the bill so we just decided to leave. It was obvious that other tables were also complaining. I've never experienced anything so bad it was actually quite hilarious. There are so many cheaper and better restaurants in Madrid, don't be fooled by the fancy flowers...

I went there with a friend for a drink and we were seated on the 3rd floor in the back of the room.
Upon arrival, the waiter indicated to us that we would need to order up to 9€ each to which we agreed.
We first ordered a tea to begin with and said we’d order some pastries after we check the menu more thoroughly. They brought the tea super hastily without even giving us the opportunity to order the food and my friend and I were engaged in a deep conversation so we didn’t really pay attention to the waiter.
Eventually, we decided to order some pastries but the waiter never came back. A few times we waived our hand and yelled “PERDONA!” but were ignored each time.
Eventually, we gave up and decided it was time to leave and had to stand up and go to the cashier to pay. When charging us, he included a 9€ fee each. We were shocked! We tried ordering food so many times but were ignored and now they want to charge us 9€?
We asked to speak to the manager who said “sorry, this is how our cash machine works and we can’t change the bill” as if a human can’t override a machine’s decision. You ARE the manager after all, no?
This quarrel lasted 10min before we eventually gave up and paid the 9€ fee each and agreed to...
