Where do I start. We spent 10 days and 9 nights at this establishment. The staff in the hotel make your stay 5 stars. They do what they can to help you but in my opinion are restricted to what they can do to help, and to resolve any problems like maintenance or late check outs or early check ins, they stick to the routine scripted guide lines.
The cleaning staff are excellent, Our room was spotless every day and new towels left also. They always seem happy and never let you pass without saying hello or good day.
The reception staff speak lots of different languages, are friendly, approachable and are excellent at their jobs. We got taxis at least once every day and always arrived within 5 minutes at the hotel.
The bar and service staff also are warm, welcoming and good at their jobs. The food is very good and although a little dearer than expected well worth the price. Drinks too on a par with other hotels. There is also a bbq on more than a few nights, this is well worth giving a try at excellent value and looked good although we did not have it.
The pool guy checks the water regularly at least 4 times a day for ph levels and chlorine and also doubles as life guard. He is friendly and efficient. He also tidies the pool area and helps you move the parasols if needed. The sun beds are excellent and comfortable. The pool area is tired and in need of upgrading. The pool grating needs to be cleaned more than it was, it was filthy and dirt did accumulate at the bottom of the pool. Green and black mould was present and when disturbed entered the pool.
Our family party had 4 rooms between us, two rooms were refurbished and 2 not. Our room in my opinion was not fit for purpose and shouldn't be used for paying customers. The room was tired and old, floor tiles were cracked and broken and dangerous. I did cut my toe. The bathroom was not great although the power from the shower was fabulous. The toilet cistern was also cracked. We did get used to our room although we did request another room more than once from check in, no vacancy was available but we could pay for an upgraded room for 40 euros a night, where's the logic in that? The wardrobe should have two mirror doors not one. There was a safe and a mini bar.
Having said all the above it would not put me off returning, just give me a better room. I think I have been fair in my review and reflects my stay. We all had a great time here and would recommend the Catalonia...
Read moreI visited from 4-8 July 25 with 3 friends to celebrate our 40th birthdays. We booked this as a package with Easy Jet holidays.||The positives:|- beautiful location and views|- great pool|- evening staff were friendly||The negatives:||- cockroaches: a previous reviewer referred to the ‘basement’ rooms and we can see why. Before travelling I asked that we were not placed in the basement room. We explicitly asked at reception on check-in to not be given a basement room. We were told our allocated rooms, 23 and 24, were not in the basement. ||These rooms are two floors below reception. Whether this is a basement or not is semantics, but the issue is the cockroaches that litter the walk way we termed “cockroach alley” from early evening until mid morning. There were more every time we went and they got into room 24 . They were huge, on the walls and stair way. We appreciate it’s a hot country but we have never had anything like this. It’s clearly not a priority area for cleaning. On our check out day we couldn’t navigate past them with our cases and had to go a long way round to reception. ||Air conditioning: I have reported this to easyjet. Room 23 had a chemical odour coming from the air conditioning. It hit you as soon as you walked in and my clothes and case smelled of this on returning home. Room 24 did not have this. A little research suggests this is concerning, potentially a refrigeration leak and/or mould. There have been various horror stories about air conditioning. There was also a ticking/hissing noise from it. We reported it to reception, they sent someone quickly but they said they couldn’t smell anything. Nothing was done. ||Reception: One person on reception was exceptionally rude. Check-in took one hour. Despite us being next in the queue. With the men infront of us she was laughing, friendly, letting them select their rooms. With us rude, despite our best efforts. She didn’t wear a name badge. Christina was busy with the guests next to us but offered us an apology for the delay and kindly helped us store our luggage. We encountered the other woman several times, each time she was rude- no hello or thank you (in Spanish or English!). On check out she barely said a word and clearly found us an inconvenience. Training in customer service is urgently needed.||Overall, this hotel has huge potential but we would not recommend in its...
Read moreWe stayed for 4 nights booking two triples with sea views. The rooms were VERY VERY dated, nothing like the pictures on the website and not 4 star in any respect. All the triples were on the ground floor, the aircon didn’t work properly and they were really hot and being on the ground floor very noisy. We tried to move the rooms but even though the hotel has lots of rooms as big unlike most other hotels they wouldn’t add another bed so we were stuck. We had just stayed in the Meliá hotel half a mile away and this hotel is very poor compared to the melia, we’d moved as we were meeting friends and I wish we had booked the melia for the whole break - we’d have moved but it was full and actually the melia was cheaper!!||Other strange things were to get the pool towels you had to go to reception which was always busy so you had to queue for quite a while - why the life guard didn’t have them I have no idea. The pool was very deep, you couldn’t stand up in most of it so it wasn’t very relaxing with kids.||We quite liked the outside patio area for drinks and some food, we were with a few other families however the bar staff wouldn’t let us order individually on our rooms they said it took too long. So we had to orders for 15 people on one big order and then spend ages at the end of the night going through who’d had what to allocate it took too long each room. You’d expect a 4 star hotel to let you order individually - if we were sat at different tables we would have been able to do that. A lady who worked behind the bar was also really rude to everyone it was quite unwelcoming.|Final point it says near a beach whereas there’s no beach really near. It’s surrounded by old buildings and a 10 min walk to a shopping centre, quite a long way out of palma||All in all I would stay 100% don’t stay there there’s many miles better hotels in palma for the same price. It shouldn’t be classed as 4 star in its current state it’s very run down it’s 2-3 star, and they shouldn’t be showing pictures that are so different to the reality, when you’re paying 2000 euros for 2 rooms for 4 nights it’s really wrong as we would never have stayed there if we knew what it was really like - I’ve not stayed somewhere like that since I...
