Ignore the negative reviews. They almost put me off staying in this wonderful hotel. Book a Cathedral Sea view room! You will not be disappointed! Our balcony was the icing on the cake. From the sunrises every morning to sitting of an evening after a busy day exploring & watching the activity in the port & in the skies. People watching the comings & goings on the super yachts & mega yachts was fascinating.
We discovered a beautiful cathedral city, with a fabulous food scene, roof top bars & a glamorous harbour filled with super yachts & mega yachts giving a glimpse to a totally different world. Palma is a shopaholic’s delight (if thats your thing).
We uncovered a slower Mallorca, as if you have stepped back in time, full of culture & history with picture perfect mountain scenery, dreamy villages with quant stone houses, cobbled streets & squares filled with interesting shops, bakeries, grocery stores & eateries: Valldemossa💚 Deia💚 Sóller & Port De Sóller🩵
PALMA… Our hotel was an easy 25 minute walk along the prom to the city & cathedral. Palma has a very extensive & efficient city bus service which we took advantage of often - we still clocked up 29 walking miles!!! Using google maps we could easily see which buses would be passing our hotel. There were a bus stops at the back of the hotel & also on the prom side, so we had at least 5 routes that passed by regularly. TAKE sushi 50yards from hotel is fab As is BarDia tapas in the city.
TIB operate a well connected bus service throughout Mallorca, we found it efficient & easy to use. We used it for day trips to Valldemossa & Deia. Then to return back from Port de Sóller (we went via the 100 year old train). Again used google maps to find bus stops, routes & timetables.
As foodies, discovering an interesting & diverse food scene has guaranteed this wont be our last trip to Mallorca. We have enjoyed some fantastic meals & already craving the tapas we had at Port De Sóller - El Sabor
💚Valldemossa💚 OMG where to start….. This place was so dreamy💚
Famous for its quaint stone houses, we found the architecture mesmerising, the craftsmanship with the dry stone walling was very impressive as were the stunning views. We loved exploring the shady cobbled alley ways, the houses are so cute & beautiful, & people watching from a sunny terrace.
Valldemossa exudes an irresistible romantic allure💚💚💚
However the boutique shops (that I could of spent a day wandering around) quant cobbled squares, abundance of floral displays that garnish alleyways & the charming cafe culture means its oozing ‘girl trip’ vibes too 🛍️🛍️☕️💐
A truly captivating, picturesque mountain village, surrounded by Olive and Almond groves, nestled in the Tramuntana mountain range that is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We also visited Deia - 15 minutes further on the 203 bus, however as we arrived an epic thunder storm started so we spent the 2 hours in a lovely cafe eating our way through their tapas menu. So we would love to go back.
Sóller 🍊- Charming town in the Tramuntana mountains that sits in the heart of the ‘valley of oranges’ 🍊🧡🍊Known for its 16th-century church, Sant Bartomeu, and this iconic vintage train & trams. Gorgeous cobbled alleyways to explore along with lovely shops & boutiques aswell.
We left Palma city on the 1912 historic train, traveling through the picturesque countryside & farm land with citrus fruits & trees filled with almonds, figs & olives.
The hour-long journey takes you to another time and another Mallorca as it cuts straight through the mountain via tunnels giving way to stunning mountain scenery.
Port de Sóller 🧡- reached by its famous trams, it sits in a picture perfect horseshoe bay surrounded by mountains. This picturesque little seaside village & fishing harbour with its horseshoe prom is lined with hotels, shops & eateries & is as idillic as it sounds.
We had a fabulous day exploring, they are both utterly stunning, we would love to come back & maybe stay in the port...
Read moreNot of a 5 star standard. |Terrible check in. Receptionist was very unfriendly. No welcome or a smile and made to feel like an inconvenience, despite being a Melia Rewards Gold card member. |Room was okay and had been recently refurbished but having stayed at the hotel before, the new decor made the room look cheap rather than luxurious. |There was no desk and all the furniture was freestanding. The bathroom used to have a door to the toilet but inexplicably this this door has been removed in the refurbishment. There is a bath with a rain shower over the bath. Why on earth is there no walk in shower, as hardly anyone has a bath in this day and age. This is a major negative point especially as the shower was difficult to operate. |There was a nice view from the balcony although unfortunately a small glass balustrade has recently been installed which interupts the view. The balcony chairs were very hard as there were no cushions, despite the hotel website showing cushions on the chairs. I was however able to request some.||The so called "double" bed was a massive disappointment at it was just two single beds pushed tother with a big gap between the two mattresses. The housekeeping staff tried to improve the bed by putting on a double mattress protector, but there was still an uncomfortable gap which interfered with our sleep. ||Breakfast was very basic not a breakfast befitting of a "5 star Luxe" hotel. There were for instance no a la carte options unless you had paid for a "Red level" room. Capuccino or latte Macciato could be requested although inexplicably on two occasions it was served in a juice glass, which meant it was impossible to pick up untill the coffee was cold. The new parasol arrangement was appalling as it was very difficult to get a table in the shade at Breakfast. None of of the nicest tables, at the edge of the terrace overlooking the pool were in the shade and effectively couldn't be used. ||Acces to the marina promenade was a bit of a walk as there was a separate lift and numerous steps to get to the rear ( promenade entrance). This isn't too much of a probelm unless you are disabled or have impaired mobility. What was really unpleasant however was the walk from the lift to the exit, as there was no air conditioning and the temperature was always around 30 degrees centigrade. They have also now installed a machine that pumps our a sickly scent which combined withe the heat and humidity made it difficult to breath. I would therfore recommend that anyone with a chronic chest condition...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews however I need to warn other travelers.
This is anything BUT a 5 star hotel - the only reason why I booked it is because it is part of the American Express Hotel Collection - which I have already called Amex about removing it.
Extremely disappointing experience for a five-star property. What happened during my recent stay at Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá in Palma de Mallorca warrants public awareness.
Upon check-in, I requested a few boxes I had shipped to the hotel. One of the boxes contained a brand new Louis Vuitton bag shipped from the store in Marbella. At first they couldn't find the box - then they handed me a box that had been completely destroyed (see pictures). They had no explanation or documentation of how this happened. In correspondence with management later they tried to blame the shipping company however - any "5 star" hotel would have DOCUMENTED such an occurence and communicated it with the guest immediately.
After our room was cleaned the first day, they put a bed sheet stained with someone else’s blood on our bed.... a clear health and hygiene violation. I asked for a formal incident report and was never given one.
We experienced other issues including a kitchen mistake at the hotel restaurant that caused a long delay, and a 30-minute water outage with no communication or apology.
The manager, Sonia Sousa, promised adjustments would be made to our final bill. At checkout, nothing had been done, and she was nowhere to be found. I was told to email customer service which I did — and had been communicating with a very rude and unprofessional person named Pilar...but they went radio silent on me after promising a 15% refund.
I also formally requested the official complaint form (hoja de reclamaciones), which they are legally required to provide under Spanish law. They refused.
This is not just poor service ... it’s systemic negligence and noncompliance. I’ve actually filed a formal complaint with the Balearic consumer authorities and initiated a dispute with my credit card company.
I would strongly caution other travelers .. especially those expecting luxury standards to consider...
