This small hotel/guest house deserves more reviews. It is a very nicely renovated small guest house in the heart of the old town of Santiago and within walking distance of anywhere you want to be. ||The rooms are modern and clean. Attic rooms may not be for everyone since they have sharply sloped ceilings and feel short in most places, but have bright, motorized windows/skylights that feature views of the cathedral. The only reason the property is rated as 2 Star is because of the amenities (basically just rooms, no elevator). ||I cannot highlight the ideal location more. It is located just off a busy square with a restaurant patio and you can walk to the cathedral in a minute or less. It is a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the airport. There are lots of restaurants on the immediate adjacent streets. ||For solo travelers, the location is particularly good because the abundance of foot traffic means it feels very safe going to and from this property even late at night. The front door is also locked and can only be opened with a key card. ||Overall was a fantastic stay. It was too bad there was no availability for the last day of my trip. Highly...
Read moreI hate online check-in, which this place forces you to do. When they send you the door code, they give you the code, but don't tell you the last button you have to push to make it work. When I got to the room, I went to use the sealed toilet only to see fecal matter stuck to the side of the toilet and no brush to clean it. Then, when I attempted to exit the bathroom, the sliding door would not open. There is no handle, only a slight depression where the lock is. My wife did not listen to me and went in and shut the door it took some time for both of us on either side to open it. When I took a shower, the water fluctuated between scalding hot freezing cold--actually a rather simple fix. The hallway outside our door was piled high with bags of linen with only a narrow path to walk through.
The best thing was the glassed in balcony that helped to keep the street noise down. People in Spain seem to love getting very drunk every weekend, and then they are so much...
Read moreHaving spent 42 nights in a range of accommodation along the Camino Frances, this was the worst hotel we stayed in. Here's our story.||||In mid-October, 2018, we stayed in their loft room (four flights up). It was raining and the room thermostat was stuck at 80 degrees F. Their high tech window malfunctioned. (The sensors were set so that even in a light rain, the window (only one) would not open). ||We contacted the managers the following morning. They tried to repair the heating/cooling controls with no success. So were told nothing could be done and recommended we keep the door open to cool the room. The following night, it was still raining and the room thermometer read 75 degrees and so, we experienced two very uncomfortable nights. From the management we received dismissive explanations and...
