Casa del Rey Sabio — Hotel in Seville

My family’s and I travelled to Sevilla for three nights during our European trip. There is a lot of planning that goes into a multi city trip. (Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Seville, Madrid). I use the reviews as a template to where to stay and pay up for positive reviews. I tend to dismiss bad reviews since you can’t please everyone but Casa Del Ray Sabio had an awful review before we came that actually got me concerned.

I can attest, that review is so false that it should be taken down. I don’t normally write reviews, but felt this needs to be addressed. Small towns like Seville rely our tourism and a bad review hurts business. We only encountered hard working, responsible people at Casa Del Ray Sabio. There was nothing in that review that was true. There is staff here, we dealt with Adrianna, who was a pleasure, always accommodating and had great recommendations for things to do in the city. It’s true the staff is not here 24/7, but you don’t need it, they are there for better part of the day and available on WhatsApp, with perfectly reasonable response time, when off duty.

There was no insect issue and the AC was fine. It’s true if you leave the door open it turns off the AC. It’s 38 degree here in the summer, it’s not in the best interest of the hotel/apartment to cool the outside, it’s expensive and not a good use of their resources. If you close all the windows and blinds, it’s cool, but it’s the dead of the summer and an old city, it’s a challenge. That said, it was comfortable and had no issues once we figured it out.

We booked this place in July and had multiple issues. First the AC does not work. it was above 100 degress outside and the air was blowing so softly it was practically off. The power also went out a random time cutting all lights and AC. we called staff to see if it could get better with the air, and see what the power issue was. They essentially told us we were crazy and the power DIDN"T go off... and told us 'just wait about the AC, the room will cool down soon' so we left the AC on, and went for dinner and when we came back not only was the AC off again and the room swealtering.. but there were multiple gigantic live cockroaches running around the room! They don't have staff 24/7 so at 7PM the desk is empty. between the heat and the bugs we got the hell out. They refused to refund us, and then sneakily cancelled our booking at booking.com and said we never checked in! so they held our money, AND made it so we couldn't write a review there. My Husband, Duncan, and I just returned from an amazing stay at this absolutely beautiful property in the heart of Seville. This is our third year celebrating our wedding anniversary in Seville and we have stayed at Casa Del Rey Sabio each time.
