Today we check into the AC Hotel by Marriott around noon & the check in person was lovely. She advised our Superior room that we had booked wouldnt be available until 3pm so we headed out to do sightseeing.||||At about 5.30pm we returned to the hotel and the check in staff member first issued us with room 412 and then said she made a mistake and didnt read the notes. She then asked for the key back and gave us room 612. ||||We went up to our room 612 and the key didnt work. No issue for us as this can occassionally happen. We went back to reception and she was servicing other guests but said to us 'what is wrong". I advised room key wasnt giving us access. She rudely said in front of other guest, have you read it right. I replied yes, it was 612. She shrugged and re-issed the swipe keys for the same room. ||||2nd time we went back to up to our room 612 and the swipe key again didnt work. I took a photo of the room number and went back to reception. She said something must be wrong with the room door swipe. She said she will need to change our room. I asked with the room change could she please allocate a room away from the lift as 612 was next to the lift||||She replied with "were you given the upgrade to Superior room" and I said it wasnt a free upgrade I'd paid for Premium.||||After a lengthy wait while she called someone, she finally said we have another room.812. This room was still next to the lift but we didnt care as by this stage we just wanted to check into our room so we could head back out to enjoy Valencia||||We go up to room 812 and it was terrible. The room was extremely small and it had a terrible roof line where the ceiling was extremely low for half of the room and the windows were tiny and narrow. Simple response is "Not Acceptable"||||We again and for the 3rd time went back to reception and requested a change of room. She said nothings available and that room type is what youve paid for. I asked to speak to a manager and she said no one is available and she was the only person to speak to. ||||Reception was full and it was very unpleaseant and embarrissing that I had to raise these concerns in a tiny reception area with about 7 people listining into the issue that was caused by the hotel and they appeared not to care. ||||Finally she gave us the key for room 412. By this stage we were made to feel very embarrassed and annoyed and went up to our room. ||||This was a lot of uneccessary stress, time and unhappiness on an issue that could have been quickly fixed. I will not be recommending this hotel as the service is terrible and the...

Coffee machine in room.
Location not bad, with a local shopping centre and most venues within walking distance.
Only one bathrobe in the double wardrobe, when we arrived, though the kind and helpful chambermaid quickly supplied a second when we requested it.
However, The price premium for "deluxe/superior" standard of the double room we had on the second floor did not represent good value for us; rather expensive for what it was. Standard area, which – with the larger bed – appeared a bit 'busy,' i.e. short of space.
Breakfast not bad, but if you wanted eggs, only (almost hard) boiled eggs available on the buffet. Scrambled eggs appeared much more appealing but these were extra; we saw guests being charged.
Staff regularly speaking in English to us, a Spanish-speaking married couple (one VISIBLY SPANISH, the other English). Adapting to such situations, although Anglo-Saxon Spanish speakers are relatively few and far between, would require INTELLIGENCE and clearly went against the grain of their brainwashing from their course(s) at the Valenciana Departamento de Turismo. Nonetheless, the receptionist with whom we completed check-in and check-out was a credit to the establishment — unlike one of the breakfast waitresses whose customer awareness would benefit from learning to...
Read moreI chose the AC Hotel Valencia for its location and Marriott brand association. Prior to booking and had read some of the reviews and was concerned at some of the negative comments. However, in my experience I found none of the problems that others had raised, and I believe that some of those were petty in nature. I had a very pleasant stay for three nights over a weekend in late November. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and had excellent English language skills. Check in and check out were pleasant, quick and efficient. The decor of the hotel is fresh, smart and subtle. In my experience, the hotel was clean and well maintained. Although the room was not large, it was clean, comfortable and quiet with all of the necessary amenities. The bathroom was sufficient and the strong shower was invigorating. the bed was firm and provided a very good night's sleep. As my stay was short, I did not take advantage of the amenities and services of the hotel such as the fitness centre, room service, restaurant or business/meeting centre. The hotel is a short walk from the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) and the Turia Gardens. Good shopping is only one street away. If you don't enjoy walking, for more distant journeys the hotel is on a major bus route and there were frequent taxis. The hotel is midway between the old town and the...
