I have been to this place once, about 6 months ago. You could smell the burned oil, and see the smoke inside the restaurant at times. We sat at a very bad table because we didn’t have reservations ! While looking at their menu, a guy came out of their kitchen he was wearing a top, with multiple bracelets on his arms and no cap on his head. A he opened the door, you could see the flush of smoke out of the kitchen. Wearing bracelet without proper closing should not be accepted in any kitchen in any country. We ordered 2 dish+an appetizer+2bowls of rice (I was invited on a friend’s treat, so I didn’t want to appear rude). When they served the aubergine dish, it was soaked in oil. There was basically no water. Given the quality of the oil, the temperature at which they were using it (heated to smoking point) I didn’t touch it. The remaining dishes I don’t remember, but I clearly remember the rice bowls being extremely hot while the rice inside was cold! And in the middle you could find the coldest rice which is very telling: the rice is old and heated up in microwave. After the meal was over, we had a plan for going to cinema, but the quality of the serving was so bad, that we spent from 8-11 pm walking around the city. Then, we bought gaseaous water which somehow helped to calm down the stomach and lowers the side effects of a bad food. Both agreed it was a place where you pay for money to get cancer on the long run (only if you are lucky, else you will suffer side effects like us). To be honest there were many people which made me wish people were more supportive of good food (taste+health factors+optimized price for quality) rather than a cheap food that harms one’s health and is...
Read moreI'm not used to all these different levels of height ... You can wander where it is. It's on the lower level of where Google points you to.
Decor and ambiance. Some things just never change so regardless of what country you go to, local Chinese shops you can find yourself sitting with another group at the same table. Now it doesn't bother me as I do enjoy peeking over what others have ordered. In addition don't expect things to come out all at the same time. Whatever is ready they will bring out first. So highly recommend family style meal. The portions are huge and such a great value for your money.
I would pass on the dim sum mix variety ... It was a disappointed due to the dough being extremely thick.
Sichuan chicken was battered and deep fry. While it was ok just too sweet for my liking.
Crispy chicken was ok as well. Nothing to brag about but if you're looking for texture in your dishes then I would recommend it.
Asian spinach ... Ahhhh my childhood memories are coming back to me. This is one of my favorite dish and authentic.
Next the spicy fish soup Sichuan style. My ultimate weakness. I love Sichuan food and it's my favorite type of Chinese food. I really enjoyed this dish. Just before it's on the oily side and if you're not used to that then I...
Read moreFood here is amaaazing! As an Asian (Filipino) in Lausanne, this has become my family’s go-to place when we want asian comfort food. Price is around average for swiss price ranges (hehe) but portions are big! I usually do the family-style sharing with groups so I haven’t tried ordering just for one.
I did see some people eat alone and they ordered rice meals. I don’t remember seeing those specific meals in the menu but I think it’s available if you just ask about it if you’re eating alone. :)
Staff are sooo incredibly friendly and patient. I’ve noticed they mostly speak French but understand English, too, so no problem if you’re not local. The guy there speaks fluent English and French so we found him very helpful.
This place was recommended to us by my uncle who’s lived in Lausanne for around a decade.
On different occassions, we’ve tried the spicy beef stew, spicy beef szechuan style, crispy chicken, fried rice with veggies, shrimp dumplings, and sprill rolls. Wine selection is also not bad!
10/10 would recommend and...
