Jimmy's House — Hotel in Taipei

Second time staying at Jimmy’s apartments this year and we were a bit less impressed this time around. Self check-in was no problem - just enter the door by the yellow Lego sign, go up to the assigned floor, punch in the code for the door, find the lock box on the left and punch in the code, and then enter the room. About an hour after arriving we decided to go out for some food as we were starving, but as I was closing the door I could feel the handle bending and when I gave it a harder pull in order for the lock to catch the handle just SNAPPED and I was left with it in my hand! The only part still attached was a little nub with no part to pull on. So we had to go in again and try to contact the staff, telling them we couldn’t leave our room because we couldn’t pull the door closed. After about 15 minutes I got an answer saying I should pull hard. And after a bit of back and forth explaining again that there was nothing to pull on we were advised that we should take our valuables and leave the door open and that someone should be there in about 1-2 hours, but probably 2 or more. By this time it was around 10pm and we had been on the move for ~30 hours so we said we’d rather go to sleep and fix it in the morning rather than waiting up. ||We didn’t get refills of toilet paper, and there was a trail of tiny ants passing over the headboard. I think they might’ve been biters because my husband is very sensitive to insect bites and he woke up every morning with new ones.||We ultimately value our own space when traveling, and we were really happy with our stay in February, but I think we’ll stay somewhere else next time we...

The place was very comfortable and clean. Big fridge with freezer, water cooker, hotplate, pots, pans and utensils, coffee and tea. TV, hairdryer, desk and chair, big wardrobe with plenty of hangers and drawers. Window facing a wall but could be opened. AC worked fine. The springs in the bed could be felt by just running your hand over it but it was actually surprisingly comfy to sleep in. Finding it was way easier than I had thought - when you get to Zhongshan station exit 3, turn directly to your left and enter the door with a yellow sign saying Lego (left of Le Nereides), enter the elevator and go to the fifth floor and it's on your left. You can check in yourself with a door code and a lock box, instructions are sent a couple days before arrival. You get the same privacy you would in a regular apartment, so no daily cleaning except changing of towels and taking of garbage. You also get two bottles of water per day. For NTD500 we were allowed to stay in the room until 17.00 instead of the usual noon check-out. Closest convenience store is Family Mart just downstairs in the subway. Will absolutely stay here again next time...

L'emplacement de ces logements sans aucune réception est idéal : à un arrêt de métro de la Gare Centrale de Taipei (voire à 500 mètres à pied via le Zhongshan Mall) et sur deux lignes de métro pratiques pour les visites. Dans le quartier des grands magasins Mitsukoshi, les options pour dîner tout près sont cependant assez limitées. Le système de ces chambres est déconcertant : il n'y aucune réception et même lorsque l'on arrive pendant les heures de "présence" d'un employé, il n'y a en réalité personne pour vous accueillir. Lors de la réservation, vous recevez un mode d'emploi assez développé sur la manière de rejoindre l'endroit. Un contact de messagerie LINE est fourni et à l'arrivée à l'aéroport, j'ai contacté le gestionnaire via LINE. J'ai reçu les instructions pour rejoindre le logement et accéder à la chambre : le jeu de piste a débuté. Sur place, un code d'accès au logement est donné, une fois à l'intérieur, on doit récupérer les clés dans une boîte avec un code afin de récupérer les cartes magnétiques d'accès à la chambre. Première mauvaise surprise : la chambre sent le moisi et le papier peint se décolle à de nombreux endroits. On est très très loin des photos de chambres luxueuses du site web. Après avoir recontacté le gestionnaire via LINE pour nous plaindre, nous recevons une nouvelle chambre. Deuxième jeu de piste car la chambre se trouve à l'étage supérieur : code d'accès, boîte avec code pour la carte et enfin la chambre. Elle est petite, propre et sans odeur cette fois. Ouf. Elle est composée d'un grand lit double, d'une grande salle de bains avec une douche confortable et d'une kitchenette. Mauvaise surprise : le frigo ne fonctionne pas (avec la chaleur c'était très incommodant) et impossible de cuisiner quoi que ce soit car il n'y a aucune vaisselle ou ustensile de cuisine. Juste une bouilloire électrique. Alors qu'il était indiqué que la chambre avait une vue sur la ville, en réalité, la seule fenêtre minuscule donne sur un mur aveugle et une chaleur étouffante arrive de cet espace étroit entre le bâtiment et le bâtiment voisin quand ouvre la fenêtre pour aérer. Tous les appareils extérieurs d'air conditionné donnent sur cet espace confiné. Impossible de garder la fenêtre ouverte pour avoir de l'air frais. Dans la chambre, il y a heureusement l'air conditionné. Malgré plusieurs demandes, personne ne vient réparer le frigo. Les serviettes sont remplacées tous les deux jours. Le nettoyage de la chambre se fait une fois par semaine, donc nous n'en avons jamais bénéficié car nous ne séjournions que six nuits. Lors du départ, nous avons dû insister pour connaître la procédure de sortie, n'ayant reçu aucune instruction à l'arrivée. Nous avons néanmoins pu déposer nos bagages près de la Gare centrale de Taipei dans les bureaux des gestionnaires. Ce service était pratique pour nous car nous devions prendre le bus pour l'aéroport tous près. Avec le bas prix, le wifi dans la chambre et l'emplacement, ce sont les rares vrais avantages de ce logement.
