During my recent visit to Chin Huajiao, a popular hotpot place, I must admit that I was left disappointed by the overall customer service. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that the staff seemed disinterested in providing a pleasant dining experience.
One of the first things I noticed was that the staff rarely made eye contact when speaking to us. It felt as if they were following a scripted routine without genuinely wanting to engage with customers. It became apparent that they were understaffed, which might explain their lack of attention and enthusiasm.
To make matters worse, when we requested a bucket of ice for our bottle of sake, they not only failed to provide it promptly but also gave us a leaking bucket. It was quite surprising to see such negligence in a professional establishment. Additionally, when we ordered an extra bottle of sake, they served it without considering its temperature. Instead of ensuring it stayed chilled, they simply placed it on top of the ice, as if it were some kind of seafood. This disregard for maintaining the proper temperature of the sake was disappointing.
Furthermore, despite informing the staff that we were a party of five, they consistently provided cutlery in sets of four. It may appear to be a minor oversight, but it displayed a lack of attention to detail and consideration for the customers' needs. Such small but significant errors can impact the overall dining experience.
Moreover, the time limit and delayed service further contributed to the unpleasant experience. The combination of these factors made our visit to Chin Huajiao a truly regrettable one. It is disheartening when a restaurant fails to meet basic expectations in terms of customer service, as it significantly affects the enjoyment of the meal.
In conclusion, while Chin Huajiao may have a reputation for its hotpot, I cannot overlook the disappointing customer service experience I encountered during my visit. The lack of attentiveness, failure to provide basic requests, and disregard for the overall dining experience left a negative impression. I hope that the management takes these concerns into consideration and works towards improving the quality of service...
Read moreVery bad service. Our reservation was for 8.10pm. We were reminded dining time is 2 hour and we were fine with it.
We were recommended the premium set which include the beef set and seafood platter and we decided to go with it. And we added Oyster and 2 other side dishes. It was a mistake, we over-ordered and later one we look around us, most tables only ordered the beef set.
The pot and food came the last among all the tables around us, estimate 8.30pm to 8.40pm. Soup and beef was good. Oyster not fresh.
One server came to us to remind about the 2 hour time limit at 9.30pm. Another came again with a unfriendly tone at 9.45pm that we need to finish by 10pm. We'll, isn't 2 hour dining time mean I have till 10.10pm?
At this point of time, we were literally rushing to finish our meal. They came at 9.56pm , asking to clear the dishes and pot.
We were ok with this strict time limit as this is the restaurant regulation and we were pre-informed about it.
What piss us off is the unfriendly tone when communicated to us and what most unacceptable to us is that never once the servers went to the table beside us to remind the guests of the dining time limit.
We don't know exactly why but assume the servers might have language issue or this restaurant give preference treatment to Caucasians. We saw the severs talking among themselves and pointing to the Caucasians table , probably discussing how or who should approach the guests to inform on the time limit, but they never did.
The Caucasian guests still looked over to us several time, like why are we rushing our dinner. At 10.10pm when we left , the 2 of them still enjoying their dinner.

Read moreDefinitely love the green pepper soup base. I enjoy the numbing taste so much. The base comes with a lot of Napa cabbage and frozen tofu (free refill), good enough for two people unless you want more veggies. My favorite dish is the meatball stuffed with green pepper paste. Be careful when you eat as the soup inside the meatball might burn your mouth.
Knocked one star off as I think there’s room for improvement in terms of service. Walked-in at a non peak period. Got seated immediately and we ordered the soup base right away. Spent the next 10 minutes browsing menu and ordering on our phone, and didn’t get any attention until food arrived. We had to ask for tea and apron. I recalled the last time that I visited, the server would also cover up our jackets and belongings to avoid splash and smell. Perhaps they didn’t have enough staff during non-peak hours. Not a big deal but I did get better service at another store.
This is an honest review and is NOT...
