Pros - The receptionist is very welcoming and kind. She would always greet everyone with a smile There is a free water dispenser and a fridge to use It's a great place if you are just working remotely on laptop and not wish to socialize much
Cons - Just 2 nights before my checkout I had this incident with this Chinese dude (Jason) who told me he works there. He was talking very rudely to me, telling at me to not play any music on the phone (the volume was very low, so low only I could hear it)
He randomly turned the AC off and when I asked him why, he simply started shouting at me (don't touch the AC anymore, else I'll call the owner of the property, he said that atleast 5 to 6 times) At that time I had to discipline him and tell him to lower his voice, and talk respectfully
Now all this days, the AC was always on till late night, and if I was the last one, I'd turn it off, second just 2 nights ago he was the one talking very Loudly with a group of Chinese tourists until midnight for a few hours (I don't see why the rules differ based on nationality)
Then he randomly shows up at my dorm puts an alarm at 6am in the morning and disturbs everyone (where are the rules now ? I don't understand) Tbh I've never seen him in my dorm before, and if he is an employee who randomly uses an empty bed where guests stay, it's a security concern Just because he has a good relation with the owner of the property (as he claimed during our argument) doesn't mean be can misbehave...
Read moreI wanted to stay 4 nights, but faffed about and the place was fully booked - and I could definitely see why! I didn’t have that much interaction, but the owner seems so so lovely for the two nights that I stayed. From the moment we checked-in to the moment we checked-out, everything was pretty smooth!
The owner has such good energy and vibes. Big plus - the hostel feels clean and tidy! No shoes in the hostel - I love this as an Asian haha.
There were so many little things that made this hostel great!
many hooks in the restroom hair dryer available for use free cold drinking water fridge and labels for your food, toaster, microwave towels, shower gel, shampoo included rack to hang towels shared table to eat and socialise bean bags to chill instructions/reminders written in places needed - like AC remote ideal temperature
You can tell that the owner has put in a lot of love, care, energy and attention into her hostel. I saw that she has helped others book tours as well.
It is definitely not a party hostel, but it can be quite social! I think it would be very easy to meet people. It seems that there are quite a few people that return and there are even a few people that come back and stay for longer periods at a time. The owner makes you feel so welcomed as she is so warm and inviting. She is very inclusive and always greets you with a warm smile. The hostel feels very safe. I would definitely recommend staying at...
Read moreLet's start from the beginning. Never left a bad review but it must be the first time. Hostel is small, tiny communal space downstairs. No breakfast, free instant coffee. On the pictures you cannot really see but the toilets and showers open on main corridor which is an odd thing, but okay. A little rundown, but maintained okay. First early morning around 6am some cockroaches on the ground level, but it is Asia so no biggie. I was tired, had to do some work so had 2 nights booked, extended for 3rd. Second day - unfortunately I stained the sheet (with a bit of greese from the motorbike taxi I took before) When I noticed, I was very apologetic, but the girl on the reception said if it will not come off it will be equivalent of 12 POUNDS for fee! I said it is not fair, but stain is a stain. I called my friends who are running hostels in other parts of Thailand, who told me it should be maximum 300 baht (around 7 pounds). Not really big amount of money but I felt it was quite unfair. Next day I left for whole day (worth saying staff saw me leaving and I told them I will come back evening). When I came back they said I need to pay 12 POUNDS for a sheet. When I paid, they said they are cancelling my reservation and they want me to leave. I was shocked, I said I booked and they agreed. They said that don't care.
Definitely not recommending 'About a bed'...
