[April 2023] Street side vendor. Tables are set around and it's pretty warm. Not the best hygiene. *Chang phueak pork leg rice You can opt for indoor seating in the shop near the mango Sticky rice stall(the ones with red tables' shop). They do allowed you to takeout-n-dine the pork leg rice in their shop sitting comfortably with fans, also do order a few dishes from them as well. The pork leg rice wasn't that great as hyped. The meat is very tender but rather bland. You need to add in loads of their Braised sauce to get a decent flavour. Portion is amazingly generous with meat. And the onsen egg is perfectly cooked. Give it a try on the local taste. I did came early around 5pm+ and there's no queue. You may need to wait in the line during peaks. *Red tables shop next to pharmacy They did serve many local dishes. We tried their Tom yum, stir Fry kailan, fried squid, and basil Mince meat. A local eateries for proper Thai dishes. *Mango Sticky rice stall Run by an old grandma. Good mango Sticky rice, fruit is very sweet. We got an over ripe mango. Do ask for medium texture ones if you don't like it too mushy. Durian sticky rice is rather not too appealing looking. Its served in a soaking coconut milk Boiled with durian flesh. But taste wise is pretty nice.

The worst night market and food in ALL of Thailand. I have travelled extensively throughout Thailand over many years and never experienced anything like it. Inauthentic, fake, low quality thai food. We ordered 1 penang curry and 1 thai green curry. Served within 2 minutes of ordering was both meals, consisting of the same generic coconut based watery concoction, with RAW vegetables, and undercooked chicken. The ingredients were not according to the traditional thai recipe and the flavour was laughable. We didn't even attempt to eat it. It was the most grotesquely disrespectful attempt at thai food I have ever witnessed by FAR. This seller is taking advantage of a tourist area by selling an uncooked, horrifically prepared cheap product to make a quick profit. They should be shut down immediately, it's a disgrace to Thailand.

There are so many stalls here to choose from, such as crepes, phad thai, barbecue, fried chicken, pork leg and skewers. This is really the place to be in the evening to get a wide variety of food to try from. There seems to be some form of arrangement where certain tables belong to a stall. So if you want to sit at a certain table, be prepared for a stall owner to approach you to order food from them. While I was here, the stalls that were popular seemed to be the pork leg stall. I ate from the Chicken Ruby shop where I got some Korean-style fried chicken (฿50). Emphasis on the word style, because they got the seasoning right, but the batter is a typical kind of batter. It’s also a little salty, so you might want to have it with rice.

This is a difficult review for me to write. Ten years ago, this night market was a great place to get food. I went back today after not visiting since before COVID, and the current state of the market is not good. Prices are higher than at other night markets and shopkeepers are pushier, as well. The famous pork leg rice lady is no longer at the stall, which is instead manned by a few young girls, and reportedly the rice is no longer anything special or even above average - it used to be delicious. You will not necessarily have a bad experience here, but you will pay more for less and at a lower quality and in a worse atmosphere than if you were to go to one of the several other night markets a few hundred meters away to the North, South, or East. That may be why these days there are hardly any Thai people eating here compared to the crowds of tourists. As a result, I can’t possibly recommend a visit to this market in its current state. Try the market at the South Gate or Night Bazaar if you want to stay in more of a tourist mode, or go up north from the northwest corner for a more local night market, or head down to Nimman for more of a hip vibe, but don’t go here, it’s...
