We chose this place because it’s been rated “exceptional” at booking.com. Well. It’s not. The positives: location is excellent, the empolyee (singular, as there seemingly only is one who speaks English) is friendly-ish. ||We had booked a room with private bathroom, but the sink was located in the bedroom while shower/toilet was in own little cubicle - yes, private, but I was expecting all components of a bathroom including the sink to actually be located in the bathroom, not in bedroom. Minor detail. We had booked for a certain number of nights, to spend New Years in Chiang Mai. After unpacking in our room we were told that the next day we would change to a bigger, better room. This was great, but I wish to have been told this before we unpacked. The employee told us to leave our luggage with him the following day, then he would move it to the better room for us while we were out. We returned late, and - surprise, surprise - we ourselves had to move our luggage. Which again is completely fine, but then why tell us that it will be done while we are out? And now to the real reasons why we only give one star: new room, although bigger and with a bathroom slightly larger than three square feet, is dirty. Towels are stained, bathroom is not clean. During our stay our towels didn’t get replaced - we actually had to ask for fresh towels, and upon leaving, we had to pay 100bath because of “very dirty towels” - ridiculous, as they were no more stained than before we started using them, apart for some makeup-stains, and what else did you expect when we had to use them for many days?! Our second last day I discovered that the window, which we had shut the day before, had been opened and left open.. there is absolutely no hot water in the shower, the pressure in the shower is non-existent, and the bathroom itself smells horrible. When leaving we found a pair of old stinky socks under a couch; not ours. Just to underline how un-clean this place is. ||||The only reason we didn’t change hotels was because everything else was booked, due to it being New Years period. I can absolutely not recommend this place. Yes, it’s cheap, yes, location is great, but you can find better and cleaner places for even lower cost - cheapness doesn’t justify dirtyness and lack of basic hygiene. Stay...
Read moreCozy rooms with basic amenities, with eating and drinking opportunities abound. For a solo traveler very recommended; as a couple, the small size over several days might be problematic, but not a deal breaker. If you need cleaning, just say the word. Lovely lady managing the place.
The downside is that you hear everyone walking by or sitting in front of the rooms and talking, all doors clapping, TV and voices coming clearly through the walls, and the occasional bird tooting. In the mornings, having this repeatedly will tire you out. If you can sleep like stone, highly...
Read moreThe place is centrally located in the city, within walking distance of bars and restaurants. Not the biggest room, but the bathroom was a nice size. The room is filled with furniture, so there is not much space to move around. Pleasant hosts, and motorbikes can be parked in the yard, cars are parked in the street next to...
