ON Thapae — Hotel in Chiang Mai Province

Perfect!

After spending in several different places in Thailand, this was our favorite. Everywhere else had lots of good things, but would have one or two things off. On Thapae did everything right!

Check in was quick & easy. At first, I had hoped to stay on the first or second floor to avoid the elevator. We were on the fourth floor, and the views were great! We also never had to wait for the elevator.

The first floor only has a few rooms, and the rest have eight. I don't think it was totally booked out since this was during the shoulder season, but it still never felt busy. We'd see some people at breakfast and here or there.

Speaking of breakfast, it was great! The best I've had in Asia so far. They had pastries, fruit, and more, and there was always a different hot dish too.

One of my favorite things is they have water bottles and refill stations on each floor. There is a refrigerator in the lobby area that always has plenty of cold water bottles and fruit. There is also coffee and snacks available at all times.

The room was a good size, and everything felt very clean & new. Bed was comfy, and the wifi was strong. The staff was always kind & welcoming as well.

Consider yourself lucky if this hotel has availability when you’re booking. My partner and I were here for 7 nights and we had a phenomenal experience. This is a brand new hotel and the design is beautiful (from an architectural perspective). The reception staff is friendly, helpful, efficient and attentive. We were always greeted with a warm smile and “have a great day” or “good night”! Filtered water, coffee and snacks (watermelons, bananas etc) were available around the clock. The breakfast was delicious with slight variation from day to day so that it wasn’t mundane. There was toast, eggs, homemade yoghurt, salad etc. The pool is on the smaller side but very clean- every time I went for a dip, I was the only person so it felt like a private pool. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was amazing, and the wifi is fast and reliable (enough to stream live sports games). It’s in a perfect location: nestled in a quiet alley but less than a 5 minute walk to Tha Phae gate and next to Loi Kroh rd (the bar street). Very attentive and smily staff, clean room with nice smelling and warm bathroom (our wet suits dried overnight), the breakfast was nice and we adored the fact that they offer cold water bottles and refil station and fruits and a small snack 24/7! It really helped us a lot and we would come again! The hairdrier was powerful enough, the wifi good, i liked the hand sanitizers and touchless elevator buttons. There are charging ports next to the bed and the entire hotel looks modern and futuristic and is well placed close to many interest points and tour meeting points. It was a bit weird to have an open space reception as it gets quite hot everywhere but we could eat just fine thanks to the ventilators. The air conditioning is a bit weird positioned as air flows directly into your bed, but in the end we managed (we seem to struggle to find the right settings in all Thai hotels and we are not the kind to ask for help, worst case scenario we sould have switched the head-legs position in bed).
