We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel on the beach and we were not disappointed with Cabana Lipe. Its a small hotel and there is no restaurant or pool (although they do have a kitchen and can knock up some tasty food and deliver it to your room I think) but there are lots of good reasons to stay here.||It's on a lovely beach and the sea comes in right up to the wall of the hotel so you are only a few steps from the sea which I doubt many other hotels on Kho Lipe can offer. They provide beach towels and deliver a lovely breakfast every day to your balcony. Sunrise beach is wonderful and the hotel is situated close to one end so quite quiet and not busy with people walking past all day. Yes there are a lot of boats on the beach but that adds to the character and there is still plenty of room to swim. The beach itself is long and if you walk right to the other end it is very quiet with no boats and picturesque with a really cool bar at Zodiac resort with lovely views out over the sea.||If you walk out the back of the hotel it's a bit scruffy but don't let that put you off it's nice to be close to where the locals live and within a few metres you reach the road and can turn night past lots of restaurants (there is a good and cheap supermarket within 3 minutes walk) and a couple of hundred metres later you can turn left at the 7 supermarket into walking street with all of the shops bars and restaurants you need. ||We stayed at Akira Lipe for a few days after leaving Cabana Lipe on Pattaya beach which was quite luxurious (but more expensive) and the sand there is lovely and soft and white but we really enjoyed our stay and Surise Beach which we prefered to Pattaya it's brilliant and for the money paid we would certainly recommend Cabana Lipe. I live in Thailand and have travelled for the first time to Koh Lipe and so far as I can say it is a must visit place for anyone. |We stayed at the Cabana resort which is located on the beach literally and found it to really good based on local Thai style accommodation. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. I have read several comments about no sunbeds for example which is true but you only have to ask and they are provided immediately either on the beach when the sea is out or on the small built up area in front of the room. Next thing was beach towels also provided immediately on asking. I know some people would expect these things to be on hand as is in some of the more expensive hotels but this is a local Thai style resort and life is a little bit more relaxed people who have been in Thailand will understand what I mean. The breakfast is served on your balcony at the time requested which to be fair is a bit of a nice change from hustling in some dining room buffet admittedly it is a bit limited but perfectly ok for us. The location is pretty good and walking out the back to the main street is through the locals which is not at all intimidating or anything to worry about it is how it is and you can really see that the reality is that Thailand in some areas is still kind of third world but not in a bad way. All in all no hesitation to recommend this resort the Hilton or Holiday inn it is not but for us equally as good for many...

Absolut zuvorkommendes Personal ! Egal welche Probleme, Anregungen oder Wünsche, unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit wurde versucht uns zu helfen. Das ist wirklich sehr zu loben ! Das Zimmer von der Einrichtung gemütlich, sauber und komfortabel ausgestattet, die Anlage selber in einem gepflegten Zustand. Die Möglichkeit auf dem eigenen Balkon zu frühstücken ist ein toller Service. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und kam bei uns jederzeit im pünktlichen Zeitfenster welches wir gewählt hatten. Am Tag vorher wird mittels einer Liste, die gewünschte Auswahl getroffen. Bis dahin wirklich alles perfekt. Generell habe ich bis hier die Tendenz 4 Sterne für all diese Punkte zu geben, dennoch gibt es einige gravierende Dinge die hier definitiv nicht passen. |Zum einen ist die Bauweise der Anlage sehr eng und Schlauchähnlich Richtung Strand gebaut. So sind die Nachbarzimmer direkt gegenüber und angrenzend links oder rechts. Somit schon mal sehr wenig privacy. Schon bedingt durch das Frühstück welches ja für alle serviert wird, ist dieses Hotel für längeres ausschlafen nicht geeignet. Eine gewisse Unruhe ist schon um ca 7 Uhr spürbar. Zudem sind die Zimmer unglaublich hellhörig. Wir haben wirklich „jedes“ Wort unseres Nachbarn gehört. Die Trennwände sind definitiv unisolierte Platten und kein Mauerwerk. Ebenso verhält es sich mit dem über einem liegenden Zimmern. Zudem sind die Zimmer im hinteren Bereich keinesfalls zu empfehlen oder fallen überhaupt auch nur ansatzweise in die gleiche Preisklasse wie die Zimmer ab der Mitte der der Anlage. Das Wasser aus den Leitungen hatte einen Geruch von Algen an sich. Zudem lag in der Anlag Intervallen auftretend ein Geruch von Abwasser in der Luft, der gerade beim Frühstück sehr unangenehm ist. Dieser Geruch war auch sehr stark im Badezimmer und ekelerregend. Unverhältnismäßig und verantwortungslos, gerade weil die Insel ein sehr großes Müllproblem hat, empfand ich die Maßnahmen die man zum Schutz der Speisen vom Frühstück gewählt hat. „JEDES“ einzelne Bestandteil unserer Frühstücksbestellung war in Plastikfolie eingewickelt.!! Selbst die mit Kaffee gefüllte Kaffeetasse war in Folie eingewickelt. Diese Müllproduktion und der Aufwand der hier für das Frühstück am eigenen Balkon betrieben wird, steht in keinem Verhältnis. Hier wäre meiner Ansicht nach ein Buffet die bessere Alternative. Gerade weil die Wege zu den einzelnen Zimmern eh sehr kurz sind. Das Thema Müll und auch Hunde beherrscht definitiv diese Insel, so ist der Strand und das Land überfüllt von Müll jeglicher Art. Traurig ist, das selbst die Einheimischen keinen Inselstolz besitzen und es nicht schaffen hier Verantwortung zu übernehmen. Die Nachbarn zB. an der linken Seite des Hotels sitzen im Schatten während um sie herum überall und sehr offensichtlich Müll liegt. ( tagelang der selbe) Sehr viele Hunde bevölkern die Insel, so auch hier. tagsüber graben sie sich umliegend der Sonnenliegen Ihr Löcher. Alle samt waren niemals aggressiv gegenüber den Gästen, dennoch auch in der Nacht immer wieder Gebelle und Gejaule. Der Strand selber ist je nachdem wie die Gezeiten sind, sehr klein und teilweise nicht mehr vorhanden. Zudem ist der ganze Strand gesäumt von unzähligen festgemachten Holzbooten. Auch die zusätzlich ständig stinkend und laut knatternden umherfahrenden Boote sind extrem störend. Um an die wirklich sehr nahen traumhaften Snorkelmöglichkeiten zu gelangen, muss man sich durch die ganzen Seile und Boote schwimmend den Weg suchen. Eine Katastrophe ! Am Ende bleibt es, wie für den Rest der Insel auch nur bei einem Resümee. Wer Teil einer Ausbeutung auf hohem Niveau sein möchte, ist hier richtig. Diese Unterkunft ist in Anbetracht aller Faktoren einfach überteuert, ebenso wie alles andere auf dieser Insel. Zudem sind all die vielen Boote absolut abschreckend. Diese Insel ist ein Paradies auf dem Sterbebett. Ko Lipe ist eine überteuerte Geldmaschine verantwortungsloser geldgieriger Businessbetreiber jeglicher Art, ohne jegliche Infrastruktur die auch nur ansatzweise für so viel Tourismus und vor allem im Einklang dieser wunderschönen Natur ausgelegt ist. Massen stampfen mit ihren Füßen die in Inselnähe liegenden Korallen Stück für Stück nieder.... traurig ! Als Geheimtipp kann man diese Insel absolut nicht beschreiben. Man fragt sich einfach nur wo die Gelder hingehen die allein nur für das Eintrittsticket dieses „ Naturparks“...
