I was intrigued that this spot as there was no english name and the there were only reviews from Thai folk talking about the amazing omakase / sashimi experiences. I immediately decided to try to find Aunt Mali and I'm glad that I did.

Mali used to have a beachfront restaurant, but the resort charged her too much so she had to shut that down. Now she runs Mali's Barber and Beer off the main street. I was a bit confused when I showed up, but I met Mali and told her I wanted the omakase. After paying a small deposit, she gave me her number and told me that she was going to go pick up some fresh fish.

After a few hours, we came back and Mali had prepared some amazing local Thai fish for us to eat sashimi style as well as one fish that as cooked. It was absolutely delicious and perhaps the best thing I ate in my 5 days on Koh Lipe. Mali was the best - she was genuine and we had a lot of fun with her for about an hour.

This local restaurant served tasty and fresh food. The owner, Mali, is very friendly and listened to our requests for grilled food instead of fried due to my health condition. Her grilled hard-tailed scab with lemongrass marinated was superb. The sashimi was very tasty too.

We were lucky to book her while we were at Koh Lipe. The first day I tried she was fully booked. Call ahead to reserve your spot! Her place is very small and cannot accommodate more than two small groups of customers while I was there. (Feb 2023)

Tucked away from the busy main streets, this little restaurant run solely by Mali is a true treasure. From the moment you arrive, you can feel her warmth and kindness – she makes you feel like a guest in her home rather than a customer.

The sashimi was absolutely incredible – so fresh, delicate, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, it was the best sashimi we’ve ever had! You can really taste the care and passion that go into every dish.
