I have stayed at this hotel 5 times already and would not change it. The staff greeted us warmly, was assisted very quickly, and our baggage delivered to our rooms. We stayed in Room D14 and B14. These rooms are very close to the restaurant, the Monkey Pool Swim Up Bar (the have a drinks special in the afternoon and the lovely barman gives you peanuts to snack on) and the pool near to the beach. So, very conveniently situated. The bedrooms were spacious, 2 bottles of water a day was supplied - free of charge, an umbrella, hairdryer and a few refreshments which was in the fridge in case you needed it but that is chargeable. Shampoo, conditioner and soap was provided in the shower. The rooms were always clean. Swimming towels are provided at the pool when needed. Breakfast was plentiful with something for everyones needs. Coffee, tea, juices, Thai selection of food, bacon, eggs, cereal, breads, yogurt, fruit, pancakes, and a lot more. The hotel is situated next door to the Arc Bar. At no time did any noise from there disturb us. As you walk out of the hotel, on the right hand side is a basic cafe that you can get beers, cold drinks, ice cream etc. - very convenient. There is a restaurant called Galanga on the opposite side of the road which I recommend highly. We found a lovely taxi driver which we would hire her either for the day or a few hrs. Everything is within reach, whether it be the Central Festival Shop - you can get everything there that you need or the local bars and places to buy clothes. The staff at the hotel was always helpful - you could ask them to phone for a taxi or a hotel- and at no trouble they would assist you. I cannot find a fault. Even Sue the elderly lady that owns the hotel would take her walk everyday and greet everyone to say how she appreciated us staying there.|Do not hesitate to stay at this stunning hotel. Thank you to all the staff that made us feel special. We werent just a number.|Rooms We stayed in D14 and B14 - very near the restaurant, the pool near the beach and the Monkey Upswim bar. Very convenient.|Nearby activities: Massages offered at the pool near the beach. Jet ski which we also used with no problem just a short walk from the beach.|Safety Felt: extremely safe at the hotel.|Walkability: We within walking distance to shops, The Central Festival, taxis right outside the hotel, bars. I would say we were in the centre of everything.|Food and drinks: The hotel provided a variety of food at breakfast. There was always something for everyone. You can have lunch and dinner there too. Dinner is set out on the beach which was amazing. A restaurant which I can recommend is directly across the road as you walk out of the hotel on the left hand side called Galanga.|Noteworthy details" We also made use of the massage place across the road on the left hand side - did not do massages but had our hair washed and blow dryed which they did an amazing job.|Thank you to all the staff that are always so friendly and helpful. |See you next time Helen Barnard, Vanessa Udell and...
Read moreStayed at Chaweng Garden Beach Resort in July for 7 days in a Standard Triple Room in room 125. Although the resort is an older one, as a budget level hotel it has satisfied most of our expectations. The room was large enough, with the building close to "Sue's Restaurant" and to the main pool and to the beach. Room and bathroom were clean. As we asked for additional pillows in the room, we were provided. The buildings, villas were surrounded by lush garden, including the restaurant and beachfront, assuring comfortable shadow for those searching for it. The main pool has a comfortable depth, comfortable for swimming/playing, it's water was clean, although we preferred to swim in the sea. Did NOT encounter any jellyfish in the sea during our stay, so do not be afraid from this point of view! Beach towels are provided near the pool. Breakfast was basically good, although I would suggest to the management to provide beside a single(same) type of ham also some variety of salami. The same would be the case also for cheese, to provide 2-3 types, not only a single one type every day. I guess this would be much appreciated by the westerners who make up the majority of the guests.Initially we were afraid from load music until late night from the neighboring Ark Bar Beach Club, but our fear was groundless, the lush vegetation absorbed most of the sound, it was barely noticeable. It was touching seeing how the much respected owner of the resort, Miss Sue, was visiting one or two times every day the area near the restaurant and the beach while greeting "old" returning guests and entering with them is short conversions. All in one, I appreciate that Chaweng Garden Beach Resort offers an excellent value for money ratio, and I would definitely return the next time to the same place, hopefully next year!Breakfast was basically good, although I would suggest to the management to provide beside a single(same) type of ham also some variety of salami. Read more100% Recommend. Just stayed here for 2 weeks with my wife and 2 young kids and would go back anytime!
Beautiful resort, stretches well back from the main street so noise not an issue and feels like you're in an oasis as soon as you're through the lobby.
Some quick resort things to know: -wifi was fast and solid throughout resort the whole time, no issues which was a huge bonus compared to other places -in room AC was fast and cold -buffet breakfast more than adequate. 95% same every day, with a rotation of daily curry and seafood dishes. Custom omelettes are the way to go! The restaurant prices are higher than places in town for similar dishes, so you may want to go out for other meals. -front desk staff are great at booking anything you need locally for fun and adventures -the store at the front of the hotel has ice cream for the kids and beer for adults! -servers share tips so if you have someone you like and want them to get the full grat, tip them in cash directly as if you put tip on bill, it is split amongst all. They will be VERY appreciative! -ignore any negative reviews about the noise from Ark Bar next door. It's mild at best and clearly those people have never stayed in Mexico at a resort that REALLY thumps the tunes! -resort IS under a flight path and planes come in low all day, so just be prepared as some are louder than others. You're in paradise so it's a 10 second "inconvenience", IMHO.
Local tips: -location is FANTASTIC, easy walk to EVERYTHING you'll ever need. -Urban Thai massage was our fave. 300 Baht for the best foot massage you'll ever have! Lost count of how many times we went. -Jimmy Woo's bar nearby has an amazing cover band that does hard and classic rock, well worth checking out! -The Palms had our fave happy hour. 79 baht for cold Chang pints til 9 PM -Happens has a great selection of craft beer and Mee the owner is great. On Street Bar has the nicest owner you'll ever meet and a cool story. Support both and check my individual reviews for their businesses. -laundry service at hotel is twice the price of local ones. We used local twice and she was great both times -restaurants in town were fine, nothing that really stood out. Islander and Bondhi show UFC, cards start at 9 AM! Pizza at ZeZe was excellent, and it's one of the few AC restaurants in town. Meal at Spago (right across street) was also one of the better ones. -truck taxi prices always negotiable!
