Bondi Aussie Bar & Grill, Chaweng — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Well that was disappointing. Didn't want to go to the Aussie bar for food because a rule of thumb for me in Thailand is don't eat chicken if the place isn't rated above 4.5 and seeing as they're a 4 I stuck with my rule and went for the beef and "gravy" pie. Just a note I actually didn't intend on going here I went to the palms bar and restaurant next door as they are rated well, sat down and was greeted with a Bondi Aussie grill menu?!?! Already ordered a drink so thought stuff it it's a Aussie bar menu I'll get a meat pie. As a Aussie I'm disgusted with the price for a god damn pie $12AU im even more disgusted with the quality for such a ridiculous price. Infact I can get a nice fresh bakery pie for half the cost in AU and it's worth it, I can get 2 frozen gourmet pies $8AU and they still tasted better than this! This was too much pastry undercooked dry and flavourless and there wasn't gravy in the pie just mince that tasted like a home brand pie (that's the cheapest dirtiest pie you can get in Aus like a pack of 12 for $3). I am mortified by this really I am and I suggest going and spending your money elsewhere for a cheaper and better quality meal. You're a Aussie bar for crying out loud at least have some quality Aussie food without a rip off price tag attached....

Great service. The staff were lovely. I came to watch the F1 and I got a good experience for that. They even cranked the volume up for everyone once the race started.

That being said, the portion of the fries that the charged 180 Baht for was not enough. They also came with cheese on even though that wasn't listed and actually is an optional extra for another dish, so wouldn't even be assumed. I can't eat it so had to wait for another portion to be made (maybe that's why the food I did get was smaller?)

But the third reason is that that 180baht? That's NOT INCLUDING tax. So I got a lovely even more expensive bill than expected. "But surely it's listed on the menu Cal?" I hear you and the owner protest. Please see the pictures of me ordering my fries at home that wouldn't be spotted at all.

That left a sour enough taste in my mouth that I had to leave...

Right on the main road of Chaweng and it had the footy on etc. I wasn't too sure about this place but we stopped and ordered the tenderloin steak and Rib combo x 2, Burger and chips and chicken tenders. The steak was the best I've had in Thailand and the pork Ribs were soft. Cocktails were great since it was happy hour, so we downed a few of those too. Only one gripe, this was supposed to be an Aussie bar, but didn't sell one Aussie beer. This was disappointing, so I sank Mojito's instead.
