“Extremely Disappointing Stay at Patong Paragon Hotel – Poor Service & Mismanagement”
We had a very unpleasant experience during our 2-day stay from 27th to 29th July 25 at Patong Paragon Hotel in Phuket and I feel compelled to share it so others are aware before booking.
Room Downgrade Without Intimation: We had initially booked and paid for 3 sea-facing rooms and had even dropped our luggage there when we arrived early. However, when we returned in the evening for check-in, we were shocked to find that our rooms had been changed to road-facing rooms without any prior information or consent. Upon raising the issue, the staff reluctantly gave us only 1 pool-view room, promising to change the other 2 the next day. The one pool-view room given to us was stinking badly, making the stay extremely uncomfortable. To make things worse, the next morning, none of the staff was aware of the commitment made earlier. We had to repeat the entire issue to them again and ultimately we refused to switch rooms as only one day of stay was left and we didn’t want to go through the hassle of repacking and shifting.
Unhelpful and Rigid Service: When we requested basic cutlery, we were told that cutlery would only be provided if we ordered food from the hotel. This is the first time I’ve encountered such a strange and unaccommodating policy in a hotel that claims to be of high standard.
No Support for Early Check-Out Guests: We had an early flight and informed the hotel well in advance (11 PM the night before), requesting some packed breakfast or fruits. The staff refused, saying it was too late to request, even though it was still a reasonable time in the evening and most good hotels manage such basic requests for early check-outs.
Rude Behavior at Check-Out: On the day of departure, we called the reception at 5:00 AM to request help with luggage, since we were checking out early as already informed. To our surprise, the staff was extremely rude, told us that no one is available before 6:30 AM and we must bring our luggage down ourselves. Even after multiple requests, he refused to help and kept talking in an unprofessional and arrogant manner, even going as far as to say: "Do whatever you want" when I mentioned I would file a complaint. We ended up carrying our luggage ourselves. Even then, the staff delayed our checkout by 15 minutes by sending someone late to check the rooms.
Despite its fancy appearance and location, Patong Paragon Hotel failed on basic hospitality, courtesy and service standards. Room mismanagement, rude staff, poor service and a complete lack of customer care made our stay stressful. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a smooth and pleasant holiday...
Read moreThis hotel which tags itself as a 4 star hotel have lot of cons and few pros. we stayed in this hotel for 5 days from 27dec to checked out on 1st Jan,2023 and can say that this was the worst hotel i have ever stayed being visited to multiple countries and stayed in multiple hotels. They even donot entertain the guest properly. I will never book this hotel again.
The wifi is terrible and does not work properly. We had to use our own internet pack which we bought. USELESS HOTEL WIFI.
Front desk staff are extremely rude in their conduct and speech. We as a couple booked the deluxe room with king size bed and ocean view. When we checked in, what we got was a twin bed room 😡 with pool view. We have the booking evidence on our mail for our booking what we selected and the lady on reception ( who on serious note do not have any communication skills and is extremely rude and is pathetic to talk) told us that we selected twin bed room. And when I told that we have the evidence on mail, she said we only have this room.
No welcome drinks offered which a 3 star hotel also offers.
ACs are not cooling effectively, the room will be mildly cooled after 2 hours. it needs to be cleaned and service regularly.
Rock hard beds and pillow. you will not get relax but will get pain after sleeping on such beds.
You can hear noice from the next room as two rooms are interconnected with the door, and you can hear the other guest conversation which is more irritating. At least being a four star hotel you should maintain some courtesy and privacy rules. There is no privacy to talk if you get a room interconnected with other one. It can be good for family of 4 who gets both rooms but not for others.
Last but not least and very important, while checking out they told us that your room is OK apart from the Donot Disturb tag is missing from the room and the receptionist asked us the justification on it as why it is missing as if we have stolen it from the room. What are we supposed to do with that Donot disturb tag at our home ? such behaviour shows the mentality they have and type of treatment this hotel provides towards their guest.
Pros - Location and space
Only positive point is Very spacious rooms with good bathroom size and nice sitting area and beautiful pool. It is also next to...
Read moreRooms were surprisingly enormous, tiled and clean. |There was an area by the window with a mattress supposed to be for in room massage but for whatever your use 😜|The bed (2 mattresses pushed together) was massive and I frequently became lost during the night. |Breakfast had plenty of variety though the supposedly hot food was mostly cold. |Overall we did enjoy our stay of 5 nights and would stay again. I guess it is cost effective for a reason (see below).|Cons|The hardness of the beds is a common theme of these reviews (over several years) in this resort. It is clear the hotel management have elected to do nothing about this. |Breakfast - a system of ordering eggs through the waiter would ease congestion within the general serving area would be an improvement. |Front desk screens - Covid happened in 2020 and the impersonal barrier screens still remain - ridiculous. |Traffic - was a bit like Russian roulette crossing the road even on the pedestrian crossing. |Resort - looks tired, well worn and flogged out. Contacts in the electrical outlets are well worn and need replacement. A significant fire is a distinct possibility. |Spa - don’t bother looking for it…..it doesn’t exist!|You don’t have to look far to see split timber and concrete spalling throughout the resort. |Security - the guards have no situational awareness as they are constantly busy on their phones. They have no idea of who comes and goes from the hotel. |Pool Bar - this is the jewel in the crown but is left to stagnate for the most part. This could be a goldmine if there were fun activities, tv screens, coloured lights and a daily happy hour. The bar staff looked as sad as some of the girls in the downtown meat markets. |General - the hotel was built in 2006 (believe it or not) and management have elected to have an asset, no more, no less and appear to be very reluctant to spruce up the rooms or common areas because that would incur expenditure. |The management responses to these reviews are not genuine. If they were, vast improvements would have already occurred and addressed...
