This hotel is 10/10. I was in Phuket for 2 weeks and stayed at two different hotels. One was in the southern part of Phuket, Cape Panwa area, where the beaches are really nice and it's supposed to be quieter unless crowded. What they don't tell you is that if you are a solo traveler, these quiet and less crowded areas are full of children and families. And when the tide sucks the water so far out you're basically stuck at the hotel pool until it comes back in, your default choices are screaming kids and splashing children. For me that's even less peaceful than "the hoards of Patong". The food options are also pretty minimal and there's nothing else around these quieter areas, it gets boring pretty quickly.
I was EXTREMELY happy to check out of that hotel and beyond delighted to check into Four Points.
Location: Patong Beach gets a bad rap, but it's actually pretty great. Four Points is based at the northern part of Patong Beach - where the beach in reality, is quite beautiful. The crowds are thin and it's full of adults and people my age - mid 30s. Here, they know how to make good cocktails, anything you want is within walking distance, the modes of transportation are available in plenty, and the variety of things you can do that are within walking distance is fantastic. Truly night and day from the Pullman Cape Panwa (the first hotel I stayed at).
Hotel layout: I love the layout of this hotel - it is designed in sort of a u-shape, with a pool running in the middle of that u-shape. There's a separate roof deck pool - which is where most of the sexy, hot, solo travelers and couples hang out (and the families would make use of the pool running in the middle of the property). My kinda style 😁
This layout created space for the guests of this hotel without feeling like we were crowding each other or constantly on top of each other. It's elegantly designed and the spaciousness this layout creates made it feel luxurious.
Rooms: I stayed in the king bedroom suite, and that was absolutely fabulous. There's a separate living room and dining room area, a fridge that you can stock with whatever you need (no microwave) and it has an additional guest bathroom. Again - very spacious.
It seems that many people that come to Phuket stay for a week or at least 10 days - and it's important to stay in a place where you feel like you have room to move about. To spread your things out, to take meetings, to eat, to watch TV. They had a TV in the living room and a TV in the bedroom. And the channels on the TV were plenty and diverse. It was easy to feel comfortable and at home.
Food: Hats off to this hotel for their food and their food options. The first hotel I stayed at in Phuket, was catering towards the guest - so that looks like a lot of spaghetti on the menu, a lot of salad, a lot of burgers and pizza. Except many of us don't come to Phuket for the food that we can get back home... We expect to have amazing Thai food. This hotel did not disappoint in this field whatsoever. They're in room dining had tons of selections, including tons of variety of Thai food. Huge huge win. They also have a restaurant by each pool, and offer daily Thai skewers and steak specials, which made it easy to grab a light bite and still have plenty of variety for what that bite could be.
The room service was fast and complete. I never had any issues with my orders and they even have a menu for food after midnight. I felt like this hotel really wants you to feel right at home.
Staff: Staff was plenty, and ready to help. Check in was seamless, check out was even smoother.
100% will come back to this hotel and 100% would recommended to any of my friends or family. I think it's like a quiet gold mine that no one really knows about because everybody thinks all areas of Patong are the same. Win for us that...
Read moreFirst off, I am a loyal Marriott Bonvoy lifetime Gold status. I needed a day of booking due to some problems and was so happy that a room was available. When I walked up to the hotel I noticed the beautiful pool overlooking the beach, the stunning lounge and welcoming staff. I was a bit surprised that they had a room with 2 full sized beds available. I did request that if a king size bed came available if I could switch and they told me they would allow this. I did a self guided tour of the facility and decided I wanted to watch the sunset at the pool and have happy hour. The pool was not busy and multiple staff standing around and it still took 15 min to flag someone down to take my order. When I asked for a towel since the pool chairs were not the most clean thing, I was told that without my towel card I couldn’t and I could try at the lobby. Went up to this bar 2 other times and all 3 times it took staff 15 min to even come up to me. Another day I brought my towel ticket and asked for 2 towels and was told “1 card, 1 towel.” The facility is extremely controlling of those towels. On a different day, I was sitting down at the back pool and decided to avoid the wait and go directly to the staff. On my way to them, decided I wanted to try a drink special at the lobby bar. When changed course, the staff taking orders followed me all the way to the lobby bar. When I pointed at the drink and asked if I should order it at the lobby bar or with her, she said I could order with her. Latter, I had the manager come give me a lecture on how I can’t order drinks from the lobby bar from staff at the pool. I stoped him and explained the situation. I was shocked at how rude he was. That night, I pulled up the app to see if there was a room with a king bed available. I saw that there was. The app wasn’t working to change my room so went to the front desk. The front desk looked it up and told me nothing was available. After showing the app, miraculously the room was free. They switched my last 4 nights over and got my key. The next day after my second day of scuba diving and wanting to crash. I came to the hotel and my keys wouldn’t work. Found out it was only set for one night not all four. That evening went to a Seer and Co for dinner for the bbq night. Worst meal of Thailand. Limited selection, they were constantly out of everything, staff were rude about not having a reservation (went at 845pm and half the restaurant was empty), took forever to bring me a Diet Coke and it was watered down when they did. The food was gross and overcooked or undercooked and took forever. Finally when I got the check I mentioned I was paying cash and a gold member and asked for my discount (this is on the sign for the buffet that Marriott bonvoy members get an discount based on status), they fought me saying they didn’t do that. I had to take a picture of their sign that had it and pull up on the app where it says it. The manager on duty did send a free bottle of wine to my room and tired to meet with me but due to my scuba diving certification and getting decompression sickness after I was not able to...
Read moreRecently stayed for one week. The hotel is very nice - with good pools and location.
Rooms The rooms are quite large, with enough space for two people plus suitcases. The furnishings are clean and modern and there are large mirrors and windows. The AC kept us at 22°C the whole time.
The bathroom is quite small and only features a sliding door to separate, so make sure you’re very comfortable with your partner. Most bedrooms do not feature a balcony and the windows do not open.
Location The hotel is on the beachfront road, which makes it an ideal location for beach activities and street sellers. There are lots of amenities close, such as a 7-11 shop, a place to book tours, a laundry shop, other bars and restaurants, etc.
For nightlife, the hotel is about 10-15 mins walk from the really busy parts of the town. A little inconvenient, but probably best to ensure less noise around the hotel.
Pools There are two pools - the beach club infinity pool at the front by the road, and the regular pool in the centre of the hotel. Both are very nice and feature lots of beds so we did not get turned away because it was full. Each pool has a different happy-hour where drinks are 2-for-1.
Each pool could use more cabanas (covered beds) because high winds often meant that umbrellas could not be used, so there was no protection from the blazing sun.
Food/Drink There is a food and drink menu available at both the pools, in the lobby, at the restaurant, and in the room. There is some variety between Western and Thai food. The quality is reliable. The price is high compared to many restaurants outside the hotel, but low compared to my home city of Dubai.
The menu is the same everywhere (except possibly the steakhouse which I did not try) and that’s disappointing because it means there is not a huge choice.
Breakfast Breakfast is a buffet-style served in both the restaurants. The beachfront one is always less crowded. There is a large selection of bread, pastry, fruit, cereal, pancakes/waffles, meats/cheeses, Asian, Western, local desserts, and fresh-made eggs. You can also make your own juice and there is a bar for coffee/tea with non-dairy milks available.
Only the juice here was slightly strange as it’s not fresh, but rather from a concentrate with lots of sweeteners and not to my taste.
Service I cannot fault the staff who were attentive, polite, friendly, quick and always got things right. No order was messed up, no question answered incorrectly. They even called my mum’s room when she was sick to check she was OK and brought her snacks.
Other There is no spa in the hotel, but this is Thailand so there are about 20 spas if you walk for 10 minutes.
Overall I would say this hotel is very close to perfect, especially in its price range. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an stress-free, reasonably-priced, relaxing, holiday with a...
