We arrived around 1pm. The beach club was pretty much empty, not busy at all with little to no atmosphere other than the music they were playing. Unfortunately when we walked in, available staff saw us arrive but no-one came to us offering seating etc we had to go to them and ask.
Upon arriving we asked if we could sit where we wanted which they replied that the sun-beds had a minimum spend of 6,000 baht and the 5 maybe 6 small round tables in front of the pool we could sit at for no minimum spend. We thought that 6,000 for a sun-bed was very overpriced so we decided against that and sat at the round table. From there on we already presumed and predicted the food and drinks were going to be very overpriced themselves which they were.
I understand that places like this have minimum spends but the time we arrived the place was very empty with just us and maybe two or three other smaller groups.
A business like this should consider allowing and agreeing with customers that they can sit at the sun-bed until their busier periods or a certain time of the day for a lower price eg 2000/3000 baht. When busier periods start or that curfew is reached, they should then have customers moved to the non-minimum spend table or have them pay the remaining amount of the 6000 baht. Alternatively customers can leave at this time which they may be happy doing because it was known about prior, or they may like the vibe and decide to stay and pay the full remaining price.
Perhaps we came on a quiet day, but by setting the minimum spend so high you lost all of our business - I would say this would be the case for many others as well. I have never attend a beach club this small, across multiple countries with this high of a minimum spend.
We decided to only have two coke-zeros and leave due to the unreasonable prices. We were further surprised when we came to pay the bill. Bearing in mind we only had TWO coke-zeros there was a 17% charge on top of the price of the drinks. Either 10% or 7% of this charge was a service charge, I can’t remember which. We were only in the club for 20 minutes maximum while drinking our coke-zeros.
If we had a meal and cocktails, I’m happy to be charged for service, but a service charge to hand me two coke-zeros in a can? That seems very unreasonable.
I would recommend the business to have a think about what you’re actually doing for the customer before charging a service charge, because I’m sure we are not the only ones who have been in this club and had one drink. If I had known that I would have got the coke-zeros out the fridge myself.
For a 17% on top of your bill, I would hope they will use that money to clean the leaves out the pool and sweep them off the patio. Lovely view but with everything previously mentioned unless you’re happy to pay the minimum spend I wouldn’t recommend this place for a lunch and few chill drinks. Good for the...
Read moreI went to Fuga Beach Club in Patong for a sunset drink. The team accommodates me warmly, the Beach Club is nice with a small pool and a large terrace with sofas. I also met a Thai bartender friend, called Time. She was so kind. After ordered an orange juice 140 Baht, I kindly asked at one staff if I can take some video and photos by mobile and camera, avoiding guests as usual I do. Yes, the staff said! I was happy to upload the photos in my social media having a large number of followers.
Then, the staff called Sara, came to me saying you are not allowed to take photos in this area, so you should leave! Wow, such a bad attitude to the guest! By the way, other guests were happily taking photos and videos. I am not a guest like the others, I wonder! Well, one staff member allowed me and another did not. Surely, they are not well-trained from the management. Very disappointed! For sure Thai staff do not care about it, but the management cares, of course. Hops!!!
I will suggest to my friends to avoid this Beach Club.
Then, when you ask for the bill, here is the bonus. You will find at the end the Service Charge 10% + a 7%VAT. Furthermore, the orange juice was not fresh at all. so I left half juice in the glass. Normally, the team should inform guests that the menu is subject Service Charge 10% + a 7%VAT when a guest orders. So, the guests can make a decision to stay or leave! Of course, they didn’t inform me! Bad service at all, and staff not well-trained! Again, very disappointed… avoid...
Read moreWe were a lot of times in this place with my husband, always order cocktails and never had an issues or any requests on deposit for tables. But today I came alone for drink 2-3 cocktails. After i parked motorbike at guest’s parking , i go inside and asked stuff if its ok to park there. 2 ladies told me yes you can park no problem, this parking for guests. After that I entered inside restaurant and 1 of another ladies asked me where I would like to seat, i showed 1 of small tables near beachside. She said ok. And nobody of them (3 different people) mentioned about deposit or minimum spend. After a 10 minutes of waiting another lady came with menu, looked at me very weird and said that minimum spend is 3000 baht here. I told her if it works that way then your staff ON DOORS must tell it to customers. Because it’s make feel very uncomfortable: i seat, wait, and after that i surprised because of minimum spend which i did not plan to spend (2-3 cocktails absolutely would not cost 3000 baht). And after that i had to stand up and go out from this place. If any of ladies at entrance door mentioned about minimum spend, i just would not go in today, I would not seat, would not wait , and maybe I could come another day with husband or with friends. But after that shame situation I think we would not come again. If you have such a requirements as deposit for table or minimum spend amount - tell it to guest when they enter your restaurant, not when they seat and wait...
