Upon arrival the receptionist proudly proclaimed that due to overbooking, we were being "upgraded" to the suite... Hmmm!||Let's start off with the positives. First, the location is excellent, and the staff are polite and friendly. I'm a bit stuck after that!||OK, the bed was really comfy, and the linen soft and clean, but unfortunately that's about as far as it goes...||In no particular order, the WiFi was awful, thus the aged "smart" TV would barely connect, therefore limited to awful Thai Sophon Cable TV, with all of about 5 English channels, and a snowy picture remnant of the 70's! Poor/Non-existent WiFi wasn't the end of the world for a one-night stay, but had it been any longer, it would be unacceptable in 2024. I generally need my laptop/internet available (almost) 24/7. ||The tempramental aircon remote finally stopped working in the middle of the night, so the air was stuck on. It did work, but it wasn't particularly strong, however, being stuck on all night, by the morning we were tightly wrapped up under the duvet freezing our bits off! LOL||The bathroom had a very stale/damp/pungent smell. The rain shower head had fallen off, and was just left on top of the towel rack. The tap water wasn't suitable to brush your teeth with, so the free water needed to be used for the job. (Very strong chemical taste to the tap water.) On the plus side, the water pressure was good, and the heater worked well.||The fridge was a freezer! The thermostat was broken, so it froze everything in it overnight. We'd bought fresh fruit and smoothies from the street vendors outside that was inedible by the morning. Luckily we'd left one bottle out for cleaning our teeth!||The "suite" was on the top floor, and there's no lift. The steps are quite steep and narrow, and at some points there's a definite head injury just waiting to happen if you're not careful. That could certainly be an issue if you like a bit of a party, and make your way back to the room under the influence... which happens a lot in Pattaya! A porter carried a couple of bags up for us, but we had to lug them back down ourselves. I expect I could've gone down to reception and asked for some assistance, but it feels a bit pathetic doing that, but a struggle is a struggle, nonetheless, and with the Thai heat/humidity, carrying heavy bags up and down 3 floors via narrow stairs sets you up very nicely for a very sticky and uncomfortable day! Luckily I had my small hold-all for the short stay, but had I had my usual (large/full) "deployment bag" (i.e. had I just arrived in Thailand at the beginning of my holiday), getting up and down the stairs with it would've been a struggle! I'm not as young and fit as I once was! ||As previously mentioned, the location is brilliantt, and the room had a view directly over Beach Road onto the beach. The problem though is there's a lot of glass on the side of the room, and dark, unlined curtains meant the room absorbed sunlight right from very early in the morning. The room gets increadibly hot, and it hit us like a sauna when we first entered the room. Maybe a white lining on the back of the curtains would help reflect some of the heat, and some tint on the side windows would definitely help.||I'm not saying don't book the place, but I am saying don't expect too much, and make sure you get it on offer. We booked through Agoda, and the photos certainly make it look better than it really is. ||Everything could be fixed, and for not even a lot of money, and would make the experience much more enjoyable, but the building is in some dire need...
Read moreDishonest management Upon arrival, I saw on the bed someone's hair - not just a little but a lot - and blue marks all over the bed. I did not complain considering the price paid. Yet one thing I cannot stand is when the management is dishonest and uses force. How could you hit a client? And why did you lie? The manager of this place said he would honor the same rate that was paid, yet he changed mind and tried to charge double. Because we had a deal the night before original check-out day, I went around the city from morning to night. Just to find out that the manager lied and his family was threatening like in a mafia fashion. The man with the bold head started hitting me. And the rest of his family did not stop that! This place should be...
