Moon Whale — Restaurant in Pattaya City

I’ve visited this place twice. The first time I was there, I asked the waiters what time they’re closed. They said 11pm but we (me and a friend) can sit till midnight, however, by 11:30pm we left anyways since there was no one else there. On the second visit we got there around 10:30pm after having dinner at Benihana. We were a group of 7 this time, celebrating a friend’s birthday. We also checked on Google and it says that this bar closes at 1am. We ordered 1 gin, 4 cocktails and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, the waitress came with two glasses of gin. We tried to tell her we only ordered 1 gin, 4 cocktails and a bottle of wine between 2 and there was enough for 7 of us. She insisted we ordered 2 gins and would not take it back while we insisted that she takes 1 gin back, which took a good minute or 2 before the waitress gave up. The same waitress came back to serve the cocktails. We asked her the names of the cocktails she’s served so that we can help distribute them. She ignored us and walked away. Another waiter walked over to check on us so we told him that we’re not happy with the waitress and she should check her attitude. At about 11pm, we were asked to pay because they had to close the till for the day. The bill came out to about 2,500baht. We really enjoy the view and atmosphere of Moon Whale and stayed for a while but didn’t get served or asked if we wanted to order anything else. At 12:30am, we realised that the music and all the lights were turned off. The waitress/waiters did not tell us that they’re closing, which was quite strange as it says they’re closed at 1am on Google. Another place that is just good for the view and nothing else

Went there beginning of this week and we already had to wait some time before the employee could find us a table even though we reserved and it was practically empty. When we sit down there were quick to take our orders but after a couple minutes they came back to say that the smoothie i ordered was out of stock Not a big problem because it can happen so ordered a new one but after another 10 more minutes they came again to say that the salmon i ordered was also out of stock even if the restaurant is next to the ocean....? Look it can happen that it is out of stock but then at least say it before we order or dont put it on the menu that day

Already a little bit annoyed i ordered a new menu item which they luckily did have on stock When we wanted to check out it took (no joke) 20 minutes before somebody came to us even if though we had out hand up Most of the time i saw the employees just stand there and doing nothing when people wanted to order or wanted their empty plates gone To make it even more fun i saw them all stand in a circle and talk for 10 minutes while people wanted to be helped

Found this spot on our first day wondering pattaya, it was a refreshing find considering the hustle and bustle (and seediness) pattaya can bring.

We went here for lunch in the mana thai section and the food was amazing, we booked in for dinner in the moonwhale section for the night after and were able to reserve a seat right in the balcony with the amazing view.

For dinner at moonwhale we got some cocktails, the octopus, barracuda, jerk wings, salad, meatball pasta and desserts. Everything was amazing, I'd give the jerk wings the lowest score as they didn't taste like jerk but were still good.

I'd say this is some of the nicest food I have had, and I'm from Sydney where we do have pretty good cuisine, but the food an moonwhale really was memorable. I'll be dreaming about that smoky octopus on the mash until I come back to pattaya 🤤

View is breathtaking and we were lucky to get some pre Nye fire works during dinner too, everything was divine.

Service was good, however they mixed up my cocktail and gave it to another table by accident but no biggie.

Highly recommend and pre book a table with the waterfront...
