Dewan Bangkok was recommended by a relative who regularly breaks the journey in Bangkok when travelling between her homes in Munich and Perth (Western Australia, not Scotland) It is a delightful hotel, clean throughout, quiet with spacious rooms, large comfortable bed and an arabian influenced decor and building style. The shower is a good size and hot water always available. The tap work is a little quirky in function but the exposed copper look suits the decor. The rooftop pool is not huge but the water is cool and the rooftop decking and seating areas are somewhat rustic but still a pleasant place to spend some time relaxing. The view is not too shabby either. ||||All the staff are friendly and the 24 hour concierge/reception a blessing. So too the well away from the maddening crowd ATM in the foyer. The Dewan is located in a backpackers area so be prepared for lots of young ones wearing elephant motif pants and the street does fill with stalls selling all manner of items. Plenty of massage outlets and every fifth shop seems to be selling weed/ganja now that it is legal. Khao San Road is a short walk away but are there plenty of restaurants from which to choose in every direction. The Dewan does not do breakfast but the Sunny Side Up Cafe is a few doors away and does the best coffee around with some good food options. It has a trendy vibe with some clever marketing angles. Speaking of short walks, the Grand Palace is an easy stroll away and this also means water transport is close by and therefore an option to beat the peak hour road traffic blues. There is no MRT station close by, so Grab/Uber/Taxi and boats are the go if visiting somewhere beyond walking distance… such as Jim Thompson House (highly. recommend this).||||If you are bored of 4 and 5 star hotels (as we are), the Dewan Bangkok is a good option. Full of character, well priced and well worthy of consideration...

[MUST-READ REVIEW] The worst hotel in my life ever.

2 months ago, I made a reservation(a deluxe room) using HOTEL.COM, non refundable. I arrived in the hotel around 2:15 pm(check in time is after 2PM.) I did not come late. But recpetion was bad. After about 20 minutes, I heard we should go to another similar hotel because the room I booked was having some problems. I got angry and asked for a reason. The manager of the hotel said the raining caused leaking problem which I don't really believe.(It rains a lot in this region) The manager said that they sent an email explaining the problem and an alternative hotel that I could use. But I found out that the email was sent only an hour and a half before I arrived the hotel. In addition, there were no hotel names in the e-mail. I had to carry lots of luggages and I was very exhausted. But the hotel did not offer any decent transportations or compensations for their mistakes. The driver of TUck TUck, which the hotel arranged for us finally, asked for too much tip and he said I had to pay the fare. It is a joke. The hotel I finally arrived was the place that nobody wanted to stay. There was no window and the room condition was just horrible. It was dirty and near construnction sites, so the noise was just unbearable. Of cousre, I complained about the room condition because It was not the hotel that I booked and paid. After a while, the manager came and offered a free breakfast and free access to hotel's pool for the compensation. This is just simply a joke. My last comment is this : Dont you dare use this place. This will ruin your...

Location is right next to Kao Shan road but not close enough to hear all the loud noise it’s about 3 minutes away. The location is great, there’s little markets outside during the day selling food and clothes. There’s a Starbucks 4 mins away right next to Burger King and a 24 hour McDonald’s on the other side. Hotel itself is a bit dated but not bad. It’s giving Arabic style. There’s a rooftop swimming pool but didn’t go inside as it was raining. The room is quite spacious but definitely not as big as it looks in the pictures. The rooms lights are very dim, which can be a bit annoying when doing make up at night as there isn’t any good lighting anywhere. I noticed 2 bed bugs on my first day and some hair in the bathroom sink. The shower wasn’t the cleanest. There’s small shelves which had built up dust so obviously it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. The small cushions in the room had a stale smell so clearly they hadn’t been washed either. The bathroom shower door has a small gap so be prepared for the whole bathroom to have a small flood. The air con is super super loud. I visited during September so I turned it off at night but every now and then there was a loud machine sound which was a bit annoying when you’re trying to sleep. If you ask reception they can give you earplugs. Other than that, the hotel isn’t so bad and the staff are lovely. Beautiful service...

I've been in Thailand 5 times already, never had such bad experience. It all started with check in. Reception asked for 1000 THB deposit for damages. After arguing for 10 minutes and showing my booking details that there are 0 mentions about deposit and me offering to cancel my booking from their side - they reluctantly agreed to book us in the room. I don't know where to start. Dirty, crying for general maintenance and refurbishing. When opened bathroom doors - stench of sewage greeted us. Pillows had strange yellow stains. Spiderwebs in shower, dust in all vents. Then - the beautiful view. And cherry on top central AC unit almost 60 decibels at night. It feels like sleeping in metro station. I don't know what can be damaged in that place. But it felt like scam from begging. And my suspicions grew even more when we wanted to check out at 7:15 AM ( reception works from 7 AM) and there was nobody there. Great thing is their location, next to Boonsiri office. And maybe, they use that tactic to keep those deposits. But be aware. For almost 70 USD/EUR this place is absolute joke. I know from my own experience that in 5 minute walking distance there are way better places to stay for reasonable price. Damn there are even better hostels around than this hole.

This hotel located in the vibrant old town of Bangkok, just a short stroll from Khao San Road and major attractions like the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, Dewan Bangkok strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and authentic Thai charm. The moment you step into the hotel, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully designed interior inspired by classic Moroccan-Thai architecture. The rooms are impeccably clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated, featuring traditional touches with modern amenities. I especially loved the rooftop pool — a serene oasis with city views, perfect for cooling down after a day of exploring. The staff incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about making your stay memorable. Whether it’s helping with local tips or arranging transport, they go the extra mile. If you’re planning a trip to Bangkok and want to stay somewhere that’s both stylish and affordable, with a fantastic location and heartfelt service — I highly recommend Dewan Bangkok. It’s a wonderful base for discovering the city, and you’ll leave with beautiful memories.

Great hotel, convenient location to sights, the fiver, good eats and some great music. The hotel was stylish, the staff very friendly and smiling, and the rooftop lounge offered good views of the city, nice semi-private group seating areas and a nice pool (though the was a bit to overly treated with chemicals so you can't open your eyes). The room was spacious, with the same stylish decor you would expect. The bed was very comfortable and there was adequate space to put away clothes. Only downsides were that the bathroom needs a strip of silicone under the shower door. Right now the water hits the ledge and pours out on to the floor. There are no outlets which stay on when you take the key out of the power control so the bar fridge goes warm and you can't charge anything when you're not in the room. Easy things to fix if the management is inclined but otherwise I'd highly recommend this hotel and will stay again.
