Location: convenient location as there’s a Phaya Thai station within 2-3min walking distance that’s connected to both BTS and airport rail-link. Although we recently figured that grab bike could be an excellent choice when it comes to peak hour, taxi/GrabCar can get stuck in standstill traffic, and BTS/MRT can be extremely crowded too. There’s also a 7-11 nearby, overall nice location.
Cleanliness: room was clean, hotel overall cleanliness is good.
Noise: noise level was really bad which was expected, I’ve gone through some reviews prior to my trip so I thought I was well prepared with earplugs etc, but the soundproof system was so bad it was another level. Noise of train was understandable since the hotel is right next to the station, but housekeeping was horrible that they just slammed things next door (or it could be other guests I wasn’t sure) and the walkie-talkie that the housekeeping staff used was so loud as if it was meant to be heard by the entire floor. I just thought maybe they could have been slightly more considerate or gentle in terms of this, or just make sure you don’t sleep over 10am since that’s when the housekeeping activities start mostly.
Room/amenities: it’s a pretty straight forward room with a decent sized bathroom, and a soft bed plus a huge TV screen. There was no closet, and very limited table top space if guests were to order in and eat in the room. Nice bathtub with great control of water temperature and pressure.
Service/staff: this is the main reason for this review being 1 star. The gentleman at front desk hasn’t been friendly much, at first I thought it was because of language barrier but after attempting to converse in a little of Thai that I know of, it was still the same, not much response from him sometimes I just had to guess what I was supposed to do. Once when I was trying to ask for a bottled water from concierge, another gentleman simply shaked his head so I guess it was a no, without any further explanation or attempt to get someone else to help me in case language was the issue there. Then I tried to ask from a lady who’s in a small office right next to concierge, this lady explained to me that there’s only bottled water with the housekeeping staff and they don’t have it at the front desk, I wanted to ask if it’s okay to get someone to bring down or I can go up to get from any housekeeping staff but she didn’t seem to want to offer help, so I just told her to maybe tell the housekeeping staff to give us more water as they refill for the room, as returned to the room in the evening there was only two bottles placed in the room. On the following day I made a call to request for 4 bottles of water but they only brought us 2. I mean if it’s not allowed to ask for water I can understand but at least just let me know. Other small encounters like the lady server being upset when we asked if we could take a seat outdoor, and when I was retrieving my luggages from the front desk the gentleman simply left them at one side and I was trying to manage two big luggages, I thought he could at least hold the door for me but that didn’t happen.
Overall I think the hotel was well setup and designed but not properly managed and operated, it could do so much better with just a little bit more of effort given the setting was already...
Read moreI had mixed feelings before booking Hotel Thomas, but after staying here, I was more than satisfied—it truly exceeded my expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was warm and welcoming. We were greeted with two welcome drinks—not your usual watered-down refreshments, but a fizzy lychee drink that was surprisingly refreshing. The front desk staff were attentive and friendly. Even though we forgot to mention our preference to avoid a corner room before arrival, they happily made the switch for us on the spot.
The hotel lobby was spacious and inviting. Despite the scorching heat outside, the moment we stepped in, it was cool, calming, and comfortable.
Our room, located in the middle section away from the train station, was a pleasant surprise—spacious, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows were just the right firmness. The air conditioning worked perfectly, with adjustable settings that stayed consistent throughout the night.
One of the highlights—and a big reason I chose this hotel—was the bathroom. For the price we paid, we had our own bathtub, which is a rare find. The bathroom was spotless with no signs of mold or mildew, the shower curtain was clean, and the space was ample. Even the water pressure was excellent and the hot water remained consistent throughout our stay.
The location is another huge plus. Hotel Thomas is just a 2-minute walk from Phaya Thai BTS Station, making it extremely convenient to get around. Convenience stores are nearby (the closest being just a 3-minute walk), and the area is surrounded by massage parlors, a gym within 2 minutes’ walking distance, and a variety of Japanese and Korean restaurants right outside the hotel.
Aesthetically, the hotel is very Instagrammable. The outdoor common area is beautifully decorated with stylish furniture and warm lighting, creating a cozy and picturesque ambiance.
Cons (but minimal):
Soundproofing – The room wasn’t very soundproof. We could hear guests opening doors and chatting in the hallway. Thankfully, during our stay period other guests were considerate, so noise wasn’t a major issue.
Dark walkway at night – The path from Phaya Thai station to the hotel can feel a little sketchy at night, as it’s dimly lit. However, nearby late-night restaurants help brighten the way and make it feel safer.
Final Verdict: Despite a couple of minor drawbacks, I would highly recommend Hotel Thomas. For the price, the service, comfort, cleanliness, location, and amenities were well worth it. I wouldn’t hesitate to...
Read moreOpted to stay at Hotel Thomas after reading the reviews and was not disappointed.
Located conveniently right by Phaya Thai station, there's no need to worry getting to and fro from BKK airport.
The hotel is located deeper in the street, which can get a bit dark during the night. But it still felt safe as there were restaurants that open late into the night.
We managed to get early check-in and were promptly welcomed with a cold welcome drink. Which was such a relief in the sweltering heat. The lobby was clean and quiet, decorated with simple yet functional furnitures. The air conditioning was very strong as well, keeping the heat at bay.
The lift was well-maintained, unlike other hotels whose lift can smell a bit musty or like cigarettes.
We were assigned a corner room on the 3rd floor, facing away the train tracks. Found the room to be quite soundproof as we didn't hear our next door neighbors. There were occasions where we hear the other hotel guest from inside the room, but it wasn't loud enough to be disruptive.
The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable, was just the right firmness for me. The pillows however were a bit too high for me. The mini-fridge contained soft drinks and water, though I am unsure if they would replenish it on a daily basis as we did not opt for cleaning services during our stay. The fridge was cold and did not produce loud noise throughout the night.
The bathroom is a stunner, and it's clean as well. No signs of mould on the walls or the shower curtains. The shower and tub ran hot and had good pressure. The provided hair dryer worked well for my short to medium length hair.
The wifi was very fast and remained throughout, which is something I really appreciate. The air-conditioning was superb, it cooled the room almost instantly. I also liked that it was a non-smoking hotel so there's no smell.
The outdoor seating area was beautiful decorated with lights and wicker furniture.
The front desk staff were helpful when we wanted to deposit our bags after we had checked out.
I truly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Thomas and look forward to...
